Hi Gang,

A recent recurrence of this issue has prompted us to post this friendly reminder to all members. :) When a member account is established, there are TWO names requested by the system:

Account Name: This is the name used to log onto the SingleDivers.com forums and is NOT visible to other members. This name can be (and usually is) identical to the other (visible) member name, but is not required to be.

Display Name: This is the name that is visible to other members, and is the alias you are known by, for example Brad aka dive_sail_etc when referencing myself in a post.

All one must remember is that the Account Name is what is used to log in, so if the names are different at registration please make a note of this name for future logins. (Most folks allow the browser to save the account name/password combo so it auto fills for subsequent logins. (Of course this is NOT recommended for machines which are accessible by other users than the SingleDivers.com member!)

Incidentally, the system security features include a Timeout for three consecutive failed login attempts, so please consider and apply each login attempt carefully! :angel2:

As always, should you or any of your IM Force be caught or killed, the Secretary will disavow... Wait. Sorry, wrong postamble. :bam:

As always, please feel free to contact your friendly Angels, Charlies and/or Admin folks with any questions. Now let's go :diver: !!

I do not see the page which shows my member name. I need to change my password but the home page has no headings. Is this because I'm using an iPad?

Hello Susan, the new payment system required us to match everyone's Log In Name and Display Name. While we did run a script to effect this modification, it did not "Take" on everyone's profile. I just manually updated your profile so both Display and Log In names match (abqdiver).

The other problem, changing your password, is not done via Access Profile; in fact standard members cannot access even their own profile through that feature. When you log in, at the top right corner next to your Display Name is a little down arrow. Click that, then in the dropdown box, "My Settings". In the resulting page on the left side one of the tabs is "Change Password". NOTE: Remember to click the SAVE button at the bottom of the actual change password page or the new password will not, well, be Saved. :-) Hope this Helps!
