We consider many issues to be bad...and/or allow them to ruin our day.  Some purists would say that as long as it doesn't interfere with diving...then its ok.

And for the people that DiveHeart.org helps...this couldn't be truer. Most of us would consider being permanently in a wheelchair, being blind, being deaf, or having no arms or legs, 'the end of the world'. And yet for those who have these limitations....its not. Its like any other day.

However an amazing group called DiveHeart.org has enabled people with these limitations to do the one thing we all agree ROCKS EVERYTHING... SCUBADIVING!!!!  :cool1:

A few years ago SingleDivers.com sponsored a wounded vet thru the Diveheart Organization to get certified in Bonaire. Our members assisted directly, everyone assisted indirectly and many many people helped to raise the funds needed to pay for his trip and his certification.  It was a great success and several of our members including myself went on to become HSA certified able bodied divers so we could assist in water with disabled divers. We've never had the chance to work that closely with Diveheart since then....UNTIL NOW!!!

We met a delightful young lady named Wilhelmina aka "Willy" for short who is the Florida rep for DiveHeart on our Best of Florida trip. She inspired me to work closely again with the DiveHeart Organizaiton and we are looking at not only what trips we can do next year that would be suited for 'adaptive scuba' but also how many adaptive divers we may be able to add to the Wakatobi and Belize trip.

We are setting up a discount code that will allow you to give $100 to the Diveheart organization which SingleDivers.com will pay if you sign up for the Wakatobi and/or Belize trip. And the local Florida Diveheart group of volunteers are looking to join this trip as a way to raise money for Diveheart and hopefully bring 1 or more adaptive divers on this trip. Its a great way for us to partner with an amazing organization and allow them to use our trip organizing skills to enable them to focus on reaching more people with limitations and then remove those limitations in the water diving!

WOW! It doesn't get any better than that!

  • If you are interested in becoming a support diver or able-bodied diver for a handicapped diver please let us know. We'll run a workshop or class on the Wakatobi and/or Belize trip if we have enough interest.
