Our pkg has 3 boat dives a day and that is usually enough for most people but not everyone. If you want to shoredive after our 3rd dive of the day OR early in the am.... just let us know. Its easier to identify the 'dive dive dive' people NOW than at the resort! (The shorediving is unlimited with a dive pkg which we all have. Yes I am referring to the Divi House Reef shorediving. We usually get to most if not all the great sites on the island and some you can't reach via trucks on the boats. And yes some people do rent a truck for a day to go to some of their favorite shoredives or some signature dives that people love! )

So who's up for DIVI HOUSE REEF SHOREDIVING???

1. Jose aka Jesterdiver

2. Pete aka Sir Pete

3. OHdog (may rent a truck one day and open for splitting costs to go to other sites)

4. CO Mogulskier (may rent a truck one day and open to splitting costs to go to other sites)

5. Kim aka KimBuddha (if body cooperates)

6. LovesToDive (may if feels like it)

7. Diving Belle

8. CLH418

9. SmilingDiver - YES and will do am dive before breakfast and one after the 3rd dive nearly daily

10. Sara aka Seafandiva

11.Helen aka fishfriend

12. Terra aka TeRRable

13. 500 PSI

14. Patti aka NJTurtle

15. Neville aka Sinisa

16. Jen aka ItsScubaJen

Count me in for some, maybe we can select some of the dive sites we won't dive from the boats

I would like to shore dive - the reefs near the hotels in Bonaire tend to be amazing!

Silly question if you ask me. Of course I'd like to shore dive, night dive, any dive. Isn't that what we are all coming for?

I agree with Sir Pete! I plan to dive before breakfast and after the 3rd boat dive. I generally get in 5 dives or more a day in Bonaire.

Will we need to rent vehicles to do shore dives around the island?  Did I miss that memo?

Hey Pete,

Bonaire is considered one of the shore dive capitals of the world. I'm guessing Kamala posted this topic to help organize people for shore diving at the resort, which is very good diving.

That being said there are tons of great shore diving spots all around the island. So some divers may opt to rent a truck, and take some tanks from the resort and go off and explore some of the shore diving locations around the island. I think that's what Andrew is talking about and graciously offering the opportunity for others to join him.

Will we need to rent vehicles to do shore dives around the island?  Did I miss that memo?

I'm most likely good with 3 dives. I'm having some neck issues worked on with my chiropractor and I think she would say...don't push it, but I'll ask and see how I feel after a few days. I'm definitely not an everyday shore dive girl but I may be up for a twilight dive one evening if people are going.

Although I'm not going on this trip, I had a question to ask about shore diving in Bonaire.

I've heard stories about rental vehicles being broken into while the divers were underwater. How does Single Divers handle this? Are there any particular precautions to take, if I find myself there with another group, and have a chance to do some shore diving?

Thanks very much! And I hope you all have a fantastic time there!

For me, one of the reasons I chose to go with singledivers to Bonaire was because of the boat diving. You get to the all the best dive sites around Bonaire with the added benefit of doing the dive sites you can't reach from the shore, in particular all the sites around Klein Bonaire, so the best of both worlds or islands to put another way lol!

Bonaire is one of the safest places I've ever been to, but no place on earth is without its petty crime. Friends of mine that have done shore diving only trips to Bonaire made the following recommendations to me.

1. Never lock the vehicle or leave the windows rolled up. If it looks like you are trying to protect something valuable it makes the vehicle a target.

2. Never leave anything valuable in the truck. Take whatever petty cash and keys with you in a little waterproof bag or container.

All that being said, I know people that have left their trucks with things inside and vehicle locked and even unlocked and nothing happened so ymmv.

Bonaire is an amazing island and i've never felt safer anywhere. Just use common sense and you'll have a great time. Or do what I do and travel with Kamala and singledivers and let her figure it all out for you LOL!
