Right on Trace!!. Kudos to Kamala for starting it.
Maybe when Texas warms up, I'll have to teach freediving down there?

Well, with the industry being what it is these days, freediving in any form is an oxymoron. Sort of like military intelligence AFTER you guys doing the work make a report.

I thought it would be FREE too! I could go from the beach or my kayak solo, with a few bucks for cheap equipment and no need for training.oooooooooooooh, freediving is breathhold diving without scuba gear.

Now I've finished buying the basic equipment. Yikes! Almost $600US! Taking a class next week- Another $600. Not safe to dive alone so now I have to pay people to be my dive buddy.
NOT. That's why I joined up here. I'm interested in freedive buddies in the greater Los Angeles, CA, USA area. I'm in Long Beach and imagine that most of my diving will be around Palos Verdes, Laguna, and Catalina.
If anyone local wants to join up please let me know.

Scuba Diving is diving in Deep Water.
Freediving is diving into Your-self, the Depth of your Mind.
And Trace knows how to do it both.

Yes he does! Are you one of Trace's Students? Please tell us more about yourself here!
And thank you for contributing to this forum. Would you be interested in sharing more of your revelations about freediving? I'm sure that others would love to learn more and perhaps you could help with that process?

I LOVE to snorkel. Ear problems make diving a little iffy for me. And my passion is color and photography...the stuff I'd have to lug to the deep to capture that is just a little over the top for me. Not that my surface gear is any kind of a big deal! Still, I am super happy floating/flying on calm waters (a few times - not so calm) and looking at all that gorgeous sea life. I've snorkeled Mexico, Honduras, Fiji, Hawaii and I have my sights set on a future snorkel trip to Raja Ampat. Maybe someday I'll expand my photography horizons - a GoPro Silver 4 is supposed to be "the" snorkel camera so that's on my Christmas list - and maybe someday I'll venture deeper but, right now, I'm happy being "Peter Pan" flying over "Mermaid Lagoon", watching the fish and coral anyplace warm. I'd love to share stories or meet others who love snorkeling as much as I do.
