Hi Kamala,

I will need to rent a BCD for the entire dive trip. Mine is too bulky and heavy to schlep halfway 'round the world.

Thank you, Scot aka Handyman

Scot,

Look at the Zuma from Aqua lung, or the Scout from Zeagle $269 (I have used one for 10 years) most likely cheaper to buy the Scout
than rent for 2 weeks, try leisurepro.com or scubatoys.com

So, if my computer is flashing 212 .. 212 .. 212 does that mean I can't go any deeper?

It's not too early to start thinking about malaria and getting an antimalarial drug. Malaria has been reported in Sulawesi. A good place to start is the CDC site.

http://wwwnc.cdc.gov.../indonesia.aspx

Don't wait until the last minute. Some other (non-malaria) meds. take 6+ weeks to be fully effective.

The Manado/Lembeh straits area are not considered at any more than low risk for malaria.

Dengue can still occur but there is no preventative, nor treatment once it happens.

Take real mosquito repellant.

I never take Malaria meds in Sulawesi. Only Raja Ampat and its local environs.

Kamala, Please do not reserve me a BC. Brian has an excellent point and I am going to purchase an Aqualung Zuma. More than I wanted to pay, but at 2 kilos it's perfect. Thanks Brian. Thanks Kamala.

Muktuk here after disappearing offline while chasing moose in Bristol Bay.

Thank you! I hope you got one! Kamala

Mooseburgers...yum! ....No moose...bummer!! Joining us as more of a vegetarian this year... not necessarily priceless, but truly a healthy option! :wavey: (To my vegetarian dive friends, my apologies, though turning mostly vegan, I'm still a meat eater at heart.)

I now return you to regularly scheduled Indonesian fare! :wakawaka:
