Okay, I've hinted at this in another thread...anyone have some ideas about where or when we might do a Colorado Happy Hour? This month or next? North or South metro Denver area (or another area if you like.)

Shout out with a post if you're interested and let's see what we can do to get together before the snow flies.

Sounds like a good idea.

The last couple were on Friday nights and we did one downtown and one down in the Tech Center. We haven't tried a northern one, but I am open to that too.

Is there a better night to do it? I noticed many of the Dallas ones have been on Saturdays. Would that be better?

I think we need to give people time, so I would think the 2nd week of November would be could. That would give enough time for people to save the date yet do it before the Holiday crunch hits.

:welcome: Afraid I can't make it.

However, I will be in Denver in March, if you feel like planning ahead for an early spring HH. :teeth:

Just let us know when, and I am sure we can put together a get together. That is also prime ski season if you want to head to the mountains!

Sounds great, George! I'll keep all that in mind when booking my air tickets. (And keep my fins crossed in hopes of good snow!)

The 15th is fine with me at this point. But I will need help with a place as the places I know are sports bars which would be difficult to get into on a Saturday during college football.

Looks like we have 3 for November 15th - any others out there who can make it then? I'm clueless on where to meet...anyone out there who can help??

March sounds terrific - maybe a ski and HH in the mountains (somewhere close to Copper Mountain...since I got a four pass :cheerleader: )? I'm no speed demon on the slopes - greens are my thing- but happy to meet up with any black diamond riders at the end of the day or even a lunch gathering.

You sound like my kind of skier! When I lived in Switzerland and skied through the whole season I could brave certain blacks, but these days with the years that intervene between my few ski days, my technique isn't all that, and my leg muscles can't take it. So greens it is for me--at least at the beginning of the day--and maybe I can progress to a red towards the end, but only if the snow is perfect :birthday:

I have a couple of good haunts in Dillon depending on the day of week and time of year. One of my favorites is the Dillon Dam Brewery, which is great other than Friday and Saturday nights during prime ski season. I have another place up by the lake that we go to during those times. I can find it.

I just received this from DiveBuddy.com. They are doing a Toys for Tots drive, on the same night as we are talking about for the Colorado Happy Hour.

I want to organize a national (maybe global) event this year for members of DiveBuddy.com. I also want the event to benefit Toys For Tots, a non-profit organization run by the U.S. Marine Corps that provides new toys to children.

As divers, we don’t always need to support the oceans or protect the sharks...how about we support our future, by giving a gift to children?

I want this event to take place on Saturday, November 15th, 2008. Here’s what I want to do...local volunteers can organize and plan their local event (either a meet & greet, or day of diving). The cost of the event will be a new, ocean/diving theme, toy. Use the event section on DiveBuddy to manage each event. Use the comment/message section to gather interest from members in your local area. Gain corporate support (ie: dive shops, manufactures) to donate door prizes for the event OR more toys.

Local Event Planners are needed, if you’re interested, please go to the following forum and reply with your local information and meeting place or dive site. Then add the event to our calendar (for November 15th) with your local details and start gathering interest from local divers. Forum topic: http://www.divebuddy...px?ForumID=6879

Corporate Sponsors are needed, if you’re interested in being a corporate sponsor, please send an email to becky@divebuddy.com (badintexas on DiveBuddy)...that’s my wife, she’ll organize sponsors with local event planners.

Once the event takes place and we’ve all had a great time and have collected a bunch of toys...each event planner will take the toys to the nearest Toys For Tots drop off location (locations found on their website: www.toysfortots.org).

Come on DiveBuddy members! Lets kick this event into high gear and make it work! The holidays are coming and I want to give something back to our children.

If you live outside the U.S....let me know of an organization similar in your area and we’ll do the same thing there.

Go to the forum link above for more information or to provide comments/suggestions.

Sincerely,

Greg Davis

Enjoy making some tracks...I'll be waiting for a deeper layer to form...Thanksgiving at the earliest, or more likely mid-December for my first run.

A tentative "sometime in March" HH in Dillon sounds good.

Georoc1 - Do you know of anyone planning anything in the Denver area for this? It'd be great to participate. I can tell you that it will be tough for many families this holiday season...we are running a bookfair at my school and I'm seeing about half what we had for sales compared to last year...lower middle-class families with an increasing number of poorer families.

Any other Denver-metro area people interested in focusing on this for Nov. 15th?? I wonder if the Denver aquarium might be interested in some type of event.

Saturdays are pretty busy for us -- I work downtown and Happy Hours are traditionally during the week for we urban folks. If we don't have anything else going on, I could possibly make it, but weekdays are better.

Thanks!
