Remember, email is an inefficient communications forum. You may not read things the way it was intended. Give people the benefit of the doubt before firing back... Especially if it is ME...!

I know that they eat cattle but I always thought it was a numbers thing.....Lots of fish one cow. Now I see it is one fish and lots of cows.
If at first you don't suceed.....don't try sky diving.

OMG, I thought they were small fish! Plus, with bad vis, you won't see it coming. Then again, who wants to see that coming at them??
Great photos.

Does anyone know what speacies of piranha that is. It doesn't look much like any piranha I've seen, the teeth look way different. It appears to me to be more closely related to the payara, but it's missing the two really long teeth on the bottom. Just curious.

That fish is not a Piranha but a Giant Tigerfish. Yes, it is a cousin of the Piranha, however, from what I have been able to find out, that is where the comparsion ends. Their habitat is the rivers of Africa and their main diet consists of eating other fish. It is also a very popular gamefish among fishermen.

The piranha's reputation is greatly overblown, based on their behavior in vernal pools. When their food supply is cut off, such as when they're separated from the river, they become ferocious. Natives swim in the open waters of the Amazon with no problems from piranhas. However, this other critter, the Candiru, presents a problem, albeit a different one.
