There are no real restrictions upon arrival or departure times EXCEPT you can not board the boat until 3pm and you must leave the boat by 8am. Most divers choose to book their own air so they can use miles, their preferred carrier or because they have more time to search out deals. If you wish for SingleDivers.com to research and/or book your airfare ticket for you they are happy to do so for a $30 research & booking fee.

You will fly INTO MALE INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT (Airport Code MLE)

    TRANSFERS

Transfes are included from the MALE airport to the Carpe Vita. You will be met at approximately 2:30pm on the day of embarkation and taken to the dhoni for a short ride to the boat.

    EXIT TAX

    VISA/PASSPORT INFORMATION

All visitors to the Maldives are issued a free 30-day visa. Americans, Canadians and most other countries’ citizens do not need an advance visa. If in doubt, please contact the nearest consulate. We encourage you to arrive at least a day early so you have a “cushion” if there are flight or luggage delays, and so that you arrive aboard refreshed.

  • Diving & Itinerary

    DIVING

Four dives are conducted daily directly from a 61-foot dhoni, which is fully equipped with a bathroom, hot water showers and air and nitrox compressors. The dhoni is well stocked with quality diving gear for each guest for those passing through the area as part of a longer trip; nonetheless, the crew's experience and qualifications are well suited for those traveling specifically to experience one of the most amazing diving destinations in the world!

All dives in the Maldives are less than 100 feet in depth. A number of the dives are on sea mounts which rise from a bottom to a coral encrusted, somewhat flat top which is usually between 10 and 50 feet. Dives, which are done from a large, well equipped tender called a dhoni, are similar to wall dives as they are done around the circumference of the sea mount. All dives are led by a guide and often start between 70-80 feet. You then work your way up the wall of the sea mount until reaching the top. Often the safety stop is done at the top of these sea mounts, which allows the divers to continue diving during the safety stop.

The reefs of the Maldives are teeming with life and divers encounter many different species found in few other places. There are lion fish, anemone fish, octopus as well as many species of moray eels. The
Maldives are also known for the big animals. Whale sharks, mantas, and dolphins are often seen and sea
turtles are seen on almost every dive. It's not unusual to find sleeping white tip reef sharks during the day dives and then see them hunting at night. The dive guides are very good at finding rare creatures like blue ribbon eels, frog fish and scorpion fish. The coral reefs in the Maldives are healthy and colorful with schools of beautiful tropical fish in abundance.

Diving with Mantas, wreck dives and very exciting channel dives are also offered during the week. The
Manta cleaning stations tend to be over a flat, sandy bottom with small patches of coral. There are several wreck dives offered which are quite different from the reef dives. The wrecks of the Maldives are small, yet covered with life. In addition to the coral growth divers may find colorful nudibranchs, lion fish, leaf fish and mantis shrimps on the wrecks. The channel dives are in a current where divers “fly” over the reef as the tide goes through a channel, a truly exhilarating experience!

    SAMPLE ITINERARY

While our personal Maldives Experience may vary due to weather and conditions, the outline below will give you a good feel for the exciting week in store for us:

Sunday, Mar 5: Depart the vessel by 8.30 am latest. Due to the necessity of readying the vessel for our next cruise, we must strictly enforce this early departure.

  • Experience Required & Training/Workshops

    Experience Required

Diving conditions in the Maldives can be challenging, especially on Deep South itineraries. We therefore strongly recommend an AOW certification or OW with a minimum of 100 dives with experience in deep dives (up to 30 m), current and night dives in order to be able to participate in all the dives offered during an itinerary and to have the best chance of being comfortable with all of the diving conditions you’ll encounter. Our dive instructor on board  is responsible for everyone’s safety and can ask people to sit a certain dive out if he believes they are not experienced enough for a  particular dive. PADI courses are available on board and can be done during our trips.

    Training & Workshops

There are no SingleDivers.com training activities nor workshops currently planned for this trip.  We are happy to check with the resort about doing training during your trip and what they would charge. Often they will give us a better price so feel free to ask us to assist.  If you would like us to help arrange additional training for you, simple click in the SUPPORT tab in the main menu and then click on SUBMIT HELP TICKET and click on TRIP ADMINISTRATION and request assistance.

We will also check to see if any of our trip participants are instructors who would like to teach on the trip and let you know.  We are glad you are interested in continuing your dive education and we hope we can help you continue your goal of ongoing training.

  • INSURANCE, DOCUMENTATION, AND T&C'S

    INSURANCE

DIVE Insurance is required! DIVE insurance is VERY inexpensive. Even if you have insurance that you think covers DIVING ACCIDENTS and air lifts…it is CHEAP (approx $100) to get a supplemental policy to ensure you are covered for an entire year of diving.

    We recommend:

Dive Assure: for either a 'one time' policy OR an annual policy for BOTH Dive & Trip Insurance providing PRIMARY COVERAGE with excellent rates and coverage! Please reference SingleDivers.com via the drop-down menu under GLOBAL PARTNERS. (If you can not find the drop down, do not reference anyone and email info@singledivers.com your policy info and we will do it for you via our Dive Assure company representative.)

Diver's Alert Network: Please use our reference number when ordering: ID1603080   (This only works if you are a new first time DAN member.)

Trip Insurance is REQUIRED on this trip either by the vendor or by SingleDivers.com!  TRIP insurance is VERY inexpensive. Even if you have insurance that you think covers your trip…it is CHEAP (approx $100-$200) to get a supplemental policy to ensure you are covered for your investment in your dive trip. If you opt to not get trip insurance you are responsible for all losses related to your trip including not going for any reason.

    We recommend:

Dive Assure: for either a 'one time' policy OR an annual policy for BOTH Dive & Trip Insurance with excellent rates and coverage!

    DOCUMENTATION

All SingleDivers.com trips require necessary documentation to facilitate booking your trip and/or making it a better experience for you.  Once you complete your documents online our automated system will take the information from your last trip with us and fill out your new trip forms for you. You then add any missing information and/or change anything that is no longer current. You will find the forms you need to complete under MY TRIPS which you will find under TRIPS in the main menu across the top of the site. Since each trip requires a unique set of docs, please choose the correct trip from your "My Trips" drop down and then complete the forms required for that trip. Some trips will also ask you to complete the resort or liveabaord's forms as well.

The AIR AUTHORIZATION FORM is only required when you are having SingleDivers.com book air for you but this includes air that is part of the trip pkg price.

Not all of our forms are online as they are either infrequently used or being phased out. If you need a form that is not in our online directory, simply click on SUPPORT on the main menu and then click on SUBMIT HELP TICKET and choose TRIP ADMINISTRATION and ask for the form you need.

    TERMS & CONDITIONS

    All SingleDivers.com trips require:

    • You complete the necessary documentation as referenced above for each trip you sign up to take with us. • You read the EXPERIENCE REQUIRED & TRAINING/WORKSHOPS information in the online trip details to ensure that you are able to safely and comfortably meet the requirements of the trip. Please contact info@singledivers.com to further discuss any questions you have about attending one of our trips. We often accept students who would not otherwise meet the stated trip requirements because they are taking a class that will then enable them to meet the trip specifications and they will be diving with an instructor or dive master during the dives.
    • We require Dive Insurance for all dives and trips as stated above and we STRONGLY recommend trip insurance for all dives and trips but in some cases require it due to vendor specific mandates. Please see the online trip details under INSURANCE to see if the trip has optional or mandatory trip insurance requirements.
    • In the event of cancellation, your trip insurance will be your first line of defense. Secondary remedies include some rights afforded to you based upon when you have to cancel your trip in writing. Please see THIS link for full additional trip cancellation details.

  • Questions & ongoing updates

We understand that 'more is usually better' when it comes to information about your upcoming dive vacation. However we can never anticipate every question you may have so we have no problems answering anything we did not include or anything you do not fully understand. In fact we were founded using "Forums" which easily facilitates Q&A and basically talking to each other in an ongoing electronic format. Today we utilize several 'communications mechanism's which still include our forums called the "Surface Interval" but also our Help Ticket System, Knowledge Base and FAQ.

    HOW TO ASK A QUESTION

You can ask questions about our trips in two easy ways.

    1. Use our Surface Interval FORUMS to ask questions in the specific trip topic/thread. You can always find this by clicking on the turquoise button that says FORUM THREAD found at the top and bottom of each trip's details.
    2. You can use our Help Ticket System to ask a question by clicking on the SUPPORT tab in the main menu and then clicking on SUBMIT HELP TICKET and then clicking on TRIP ADMINISTRATION.  We will reply to your question as soon as we can and post the replies in the TRIP THREAD in our Forums. We will also move appropriate questions to our FAQ's and Knowledge Bases.

    ONGOING UPDATES

We use several tools to keep EVERYONE on a trip updated. They are ALL vitally important for you to monitor and stay apprised of. They are as follows:

    1. The "Welcome to the Trip" PM (private message via our FORUMS) which is sent to as soon as you sign up for the trip. You can not receive these unless you are a Premier member or above. As soon as you either pay or show interest in the trip thread/topic we'll send you this PM. It has helpful info about signing up for the trip and will be used THROUGHOUT the pre-trip process to keep you updated on critical things regarding your trip with us.
    2. The Trip Topic in our FORUMS (the first post has the trip details in it) and subsequent posts will contain ongoing questions and updates. We also start separate topics for important trip related matters. Please click on the FORUM THREAD  button to be taken to the Trip Discussion Thread/Topic for this particular trip. PLEASE monitor these for IMPORTANT UPDATES that affect your trip.
    3. The FAQ, KNOWLEDGE BASE & HELP TICKET SYSTEM. When in the main site you'll always be able to click on the SUPPORT tab on the main menu and find the Help Ticket System, Knowledge Base, Glossary and FAQ. Every time someone ask a question we we will file it in the appropriate TRIP KNOWLEDGE BASE and/or FAQ as well as posting it on in the FORUMS Trip Thread. This will allow you to find the information you need in one of several places making it easier for you to get the information you need and ask the questions you want.
