Singles, doubles, regs, and hoses ACK!!!!

For divers like myself, what do you do when diving doubles one weekend then singles the next or while on a trip. It seems as though the last 3 years I have spent more time breaking down and rerouting octo hoses, inflator hoses, and spg hoses than I have spent diving.
And keeping track of the hose lengths is another story alltogether. This drysuit inflator hose for singles, this drysuit inflator for doubles.
To use a famous quote from the infomercial "STOP THE INSANITY!"
Yesterday I finally purchased everything I need for my 2 doubles regs , my single reg, and my pony reg.
But, now my yearly bill to service my regs will be about $250 LOL
I appear to be hosed either way!

I have done some dives in the Eastern End "deeper" part of lake erie, where about 5 of 10 divers are on RB's, and I hear them talk about their "sweet 72's", their "sweet 104's" and their "sweet hp 100's!
Then I ask how much they need for them and they say "well, I can't let them go!"
Just amazes me how the RB guys up there will try to convince me on the RB, but won't sell their open circuit doubles.
Agree with you my friend, this is a expensive hobby!

Sometimes, I think it would be cheaper in the long run just to go with a nice rebreather. Between cylinders, regs, pressure gauges, hoses, overhauls, hydros, visuals, and other maintenance thats alot of dough... maybe someday when I can scrape together 10K.
I'm not an expert on the subject, but I just bought a used rebreather for $1400. Since you said 10K I assume you are talking completely closed. I bought a semi-closed Dolphin. My plan is to get used to this, then down the road start converting it to closed.
My first post-rebreather certification dives were this last NC wreck trip. I really loved it. The only downside is that you have to take it apart and clean it every evening.

When I get a rebreather, I will sell my big honking doubles. I'll just keep my little set of twins. I figure I will have to win the lottery before I get a real Rebreather...

Eventually, I'd like to get into a Prism from Steam Machines, but the cost is pretty steep for me these days as well. I don't see it ever completely replacing my doubles setup though.
