Yea scuba burns a lot!! In Weight Watchers you're allowed so many points per day to use as you wish....I get 26. Exercise lets you 'earn' points back. I can either 'eat' those points, bank them, or just ignore em. 1 hour of scuba is worth 13 points. So if I scuba for 2 hours I get to eat twice as much right???? Wish I could scuba everyday with those stats!!

I don't feel like I'm exercising when I scuba I go so damn slow and just putter around. They must be basing it on hyper divers I just don't see scuba as a heavy exercise. I think I burn more calories walking.

Chuck,

I agree. I rarely work hard on a dive. I can sleep while diving, it's soooo relaxing.

I agree too...most of my energy is spent trying to drag me and my gear out of the water and back up the hill!

Or maybe they don't know where the wreck is (exactly) and have to find it so that a mooring line can be hooked for the boat to connect to, LOL.
A person should be judged in this life not by the mistakes that they make nor by the number of them. Rather they are to be judged by their recovery from them.

I've heard the same thing about SCUBA burning up lots of calories.....it didn't make a lot of sense, since it is one of the most relaxing activities I know of. The explanation given was that just breathing at depth, is a cardiovascular workout since the pressure makes your heart and lungs work harder.

Don't know if it's true, but that's what I was told.

Peace,
Cathie

Many Congratulations ! :diver: I know how hard it is to loose weight and keep it off. I have been on every diet imaginable. I have loss 60 pounds then gained back 80 when I got off thre diet. But Weight Watchers is the best one out there.

As for you plateau. it can be very fustrating, especially being on one for 3 months. :welcome: But as some people have mentioned before. Muscle weights more than fat. 3 times as much actually.

You need to make sure you drink water all day. Pending on the type of job you have the harder this might be. I find that if I have water at my desk then I will drink it so i fill a 1.5 litre bottle up everyday and bring it to work. But the end of the day I am usually finished the water. Also, you should not drink with meals. They say that it will dilute the food in you system therefor take longer to process and more nutriets will be missed.

Be careful of what type of exercise you are doing. Some of the exercises you mentioned will cause you to gain muscle. Some musle gain is great and very healthy but unless if you want actual bulk then I would focus more on the cardio activities. When you work out, your muscles tear and when the repair themselves then build more musles. You need to have days of rest to make this process happen. You see body builders break up their routine, one day they do arms and back then the next they do legs and abs. This process allows the body to rest and mend itself in between. So even if you are not doing actual wieghts the theory still applies, you need to have days of rest between the intense workouts.

Not that you need more exercise but an alternative activity you might want to consider is Acquafit is an excellent activity for cardio in the water and the water causes some resistance with makes you work harder.

But in summary, what you are doing is great, I admire your dedication. Keep going and all will work out in the end.

Good section here, i will keep checking it out for more good info. i just started a diet 2 weeks ago. It would be nice to drop 15 lbs. Im not doing WW or anything specific, just watching what i eat, how much, and making sure i eat a well balanced meal. Last 2 months i was eating like a horse, and its showing now :diver:.

Always battled with the extra 15 lbs and i go up and down about every 8 months or so.

Andy

Best way I've lost weight, when I want to lose it:
No Carbs/No Sugars
Eat small meals every 3 hours
Prepare delicious merinades, great salmon steaks, chicken cutlet
Eye appealing salads

Sugar Twin Sugar subsitutes
0Carb/0Sugar Chocolate because have to have my chocolate
Water 3 to 4 (16oz) per day (love the taste of Zephyrhills best)

Once I've lost the weight I want to lose then only eat carbs/sugars in moderation 1 or twice a week.

Of course, I work out daily when triggering my body to lose weight and always check in with my Dr. at the beginning and end of such ventures. Only twice in my life had I had to do so. Just lost 53 lbs and toning as I lost.

Doc, as for guys you are pretty much muscle mass. Women once gain weight have to seriously work at it until they develop muscle like Kamala said. I don't look at the scale, I look at the inches lost and the dress sizes dropped.

If you hit a wall then increase your cardios (brisk walking or jogging for 45 minutes every other day will do it.) Other things to consider is your blood type, bone frame, and body shape tendency.

No matter what, there is hope and your body is ready for sculping at any size.
Make it fun, make it a lifestyle and new habits will keep you healthy for years to come. The best part is when clothes start to fit nicely and those curves start to show and the heads start to turn in your direction, well nothing like it.
Nothing that is next to ssssssshopping-shopping-shopping!!!Macey's Nieman Marcus, Lord and Taylor, Sak's Fifth Avenue-----New York shopping especially.

Let me know the shopping is great!!!

I second the sentiment that the scale is irrelevant! I haven't weighed myself in 8 years and have not intention to weigh myself in the future. I am one of those people who honestly has NO IDEA what I weigh! It's all in the measurements and how your clothes fit! :welcome:
