Although I realize that a one day trip may not warrant a trip report, yesterday's diving was so incredible that I thought I would share. This is from a post I made to the scubadiving.com board:

My daughter and I dove the Spiegel Grove yesterday. This was my 8th dive on the wreck, but first this year. There is normally a pretty good current flowing and fairly good viz, but not as good as say at the Duane. But yesterday, we had flat seas, no current, and at least 80' of horizontal vis. I could read the name on the side of the dive boat from over 100' deep yesterday. Water temp was 82 and we braved it out and wore our 2.5mil shorties. We had a few spots of some chilly water. Yes, we are WWW's to the core.

We cleaned our names, dropped on down to a little over 100' Inside the big cargo hold, we were absolutely covered up by a huge bait ball of bait fish. I could barely see my daughter as we were right in the middle of this bait ball. We also saw a nice school of jacks and many other schools of small fish. Doing the safety stop, I could see the bottom, which is app 130'.

With these kind of conditions, I was so reluctant to get back in the boat.

The second dive was at French Reef. We found a cleaning station where two large groupers were getting the cleaning. Also saw a nice moray eel, and just chilled out.

Days like yesterday are the reason I go to work on days like today. I need to plan my next dive.

:lmao: Since you're in the mode to dive..... I talked to Charlie. The UU night dive is confirmed. We're meeting at the store at 5:00 to carpool (since the parking is SOOO bad near MB Marina) or be at the dock at 6:00. Planning on diving the Miss Brittnay then a reef on RJ's new boat. Should be fun, hope you can make it.

Happy Diving, LJMongy
