Jex - great site... thanks! I checked areas around my nieces and nephews and was shocked at the number of offenders I found! Great tool for safety.

Thanks again.

Working in the capacity I do, and out state having been at the forefront of this push to get this knowledge out there, I am stil taken aback at the sheer numbers of folk that show up when I look at some areas I am familiar with.

You really don't know your neighbors sometimes.

Hmmm... it says no offenders in my town of Avalon. Can't be correct... I know of two (and I'm NOT one of them... I only molest young woman 21 or older).

Sadly, not all states fully report. Reference the Jessica Lunsford Act in Florida to see the huge push behind getting this sex offender data published. It was my former bosses claim to fame, getting the various state agencies' databases set up to provide this kind of information.

Florida makes its share of mistakes, but this is one thing I am VERY proud our state stepped out and did and provided a model for other states to follow.

As someone who works with kids, particularly young females, I think it's VITAL that this kind of informaiton is freely available. What is particularly frightening, is how many sex offenders, particularly those with transgressions among minors, live PERILOUSLY close to elementary and junior high schools.

Although I made light of the results in my town, obviously this is a serious issue. It truly is beyond me that "mature" (chronologically) individuals can take pleasure molesting young kids. Obviously I don't have the psychological background to understand how this illness (and they must be ill, right?) evolves.

You can also go to your local county sheriffs office web site. They usually have links to similar information

I heard a 'news teaser' a couple of days ago (Texas) that the legislature was considering a bill that would impose the death penalty for a second-offense child molester. Finally someone's taking it seriously! If you throw basic human values away, don't come to Texas. :wavey:
