Just wanted to make a quick thank you to all the folks who attended and were able to stay until I finally arrived at the Happy Hour last night.

A special shout out goes to our Houston contingent, who braved the wild traffic of big D to attend.

I would also like to thank Deb for filling in for me as hostess for the event; for those that do not know, she was the very first DFW Happy Hour Coordinator... and I could not ask for a better person to take my place last night.

I'll let others who were able to attend the entire event tell you more about how it was -- next time I hope to be able to host it in its entirety.

... and just when IS that next Happy Hour?

Why, it's going to be on Saturday December the 2nd!! Just follow the link at the signature at the bottom of the page to find out more.

PlatypusMan
...we now return to our scheduled mating activities.

Thanks John! I do believe everyone who came had a good time, yet it was a bit worrysome in the beginning as the place was a bit packed and Scubatooth will agree with me on that since he was the first to appear.

It was great to see everyone again along with a few I've not seen in a long time, namely Grayfins and Big Tall Hippy which in turn cut all his long hair off, but he looks great!

I also enjoyed meeting a few new people and those which made the long trip from Houston and Galveston areas and hope to see you all again sometime when the Happy Hour is a bit closer or possibly again during a Friday in the surrounding areas of Irving or one day I'll just make the trip out to Houston as I've yet to attend a HH there.

For those leaving this weekend or monday for your trip, I hope you have a wonderful time!

WOW!!! More women than men at our DFW/Houston Happy Hour!

Didn't know it was a combo Happy Hour? We didn't either until the gang from Houston started surprising us one by one...

First came Lee....I almost didn't recognize her in non-dive gear! WOW! She looked great!

Then came the BIG Houston contingency with ScubaPunk, Jennie (not sure of the spelling but she will be a member soon so I'm sure I'll do better with her screen name!) and another friend of ScubaPunk's plus ScubaGirl! That makes 5 lovely ladies from Houston not to mention the Dallas Gals consisting of Dejah and myself and the 3 super nice gals that WashOut met and recruited to the site when he first arrived on the scene.

Picture this...

The scene opens...

Washout walks up to 3 lovely ladies sitting at the bar and asks the blonde if she is 'Wreck Wench".

Enter WW sometime later...

'I understand someone is a diver here....Hi you must be WashOut I'm WreckWench.' At this point all 3 girl's heads snap to see who this WreckWench was and that she 'REALLY' existed and wasn't just some 'pickup line'. :lmao:

If I'd only had a camera when the realization hit the gals that he WASN'T just using a corny pick up line! :o

Final Scene...

After a drink and lots of talk about the site, shared diving stories (yes the blonde was also a diver) some discussion on how non-divers and snorklers were VERY WELCOME, I soon invite them to join the site and they agreed! They continued to listen to a few more 'fish tales' by WashOut and I go and answer my mystery call!

Phone converstation....

Mystery Caller: Hey this is Barry where is everyone?
WW: Barry? Barry who?
MC: You know Barry aka WestTXBlaze!
WW: Hey what are you up too?
MC: Well I'm trying to find everyone at the Happy Hour.
WW: You are kidding!
MC: Why would I be kidding?
WW: You mean you are here?
MC: Yes that is what I said.
WW: You mean you are here at the DFW HH?
MC: Yes, how many times do I have to tell you that. Maybe you REALLY are blonde! :blond:
WW: Ok Ok Wait right there and I'll meet you at the door...I'm almost there!

So what a surprize to have Barry aka WestTXBlaze join us too! Seems he wanted to try the DUI DrySuits today and so came in early for the Happy Hour! :wakawaka:

I get Barry and head for the table with Dejah and ScubaTooth who held the fort early getting our HH going! (And getting our names on the proper waiting lists!) They are talking to Bill aka Greyfins who is on the Sea of Cortez trip with me so in town early to see his family! And I see a very handsome guy that I've never seen before. Very tall, with wavey glistening hair. I'm just starting to think 'WOW what a cute guy when Dejah says "Hey BigTallHippie how are you?" I stop...look again and realize that she is right! Kevin aka BTH was in the house and looking good! :cool2:

Soon we were ordering food and listening to great music at the club. WashOut joined us and met everyone and the Houston gals showed up and the party was in full swing! Seems like I am missing someone (I apologize if I have) and no I didn't have too much to drink...just too much to do getting ready to go out ot town! :thankyou:

As the evening progressed John aka Platypusman arrived and the party was complete! It was great to see him and boy does he dress up nice! Suit, tie and long black leather coat...my favorite! :P

It was a super Happy Hour and when I left...Washout had returned to tell the 3 new gals more about SD and people needed to head home to get an early start on the DUI Dog Days! I gave Barry a ride to his hotel which he chose for it's stumbling distance proximety to the HH...smart man... and then I drove home myself! YEP...I actually drove to a HH without my best friend Fingrabber! And I even made it on time... er...I made it before almost everyone else did! Yeah...thats my story and I'm sticking to it! -ww

Thanks-- I had just come from work, and didn't want to take the time to change for fear of missing everyone.

It was very nice meeting a lot of new folks (had only met WW and ScubaPunk prior to the HH) and am very sorry to have missed folks that arrived after I left around 9:30. It was a good thing I did leave, however, as I would have never completed my DFW-area mission to help my SO clean his apartment before Thanksgiving. We didn't finish cleaning carpet at 2:50 AM Monday morning. Needless to say, I was a very tired SD-member when driving back to Galveston Monday morning.
Back after a long absence - whew, too busy at work!

Yep I finally made a happy hour. the conversation with WW didn't go just that way, but I guess it was close enough. Really enjoyed catching up with people I haven't seen in awhile and meeting all the others there.
Maybe I'll make it up there again for another HH. It is just a bit of a drive for me, but it was fun
