I live in the most densly populated state in the country but it's still twenty some miles to the nearest mall, Target, Home Depot or movie.
BTW, most divers won't eat at Red Lobster because of the way they treat the Hondurian natives who dive for those lobsters. Say you've got too much bottom time and you're fired, get bent and your fired.

Used to live in a small town where it was an hour and 15 minutes to a major city. Moved last year to one of those cities for a new job and the change is noticeable...

Many more conveniences and more to do...

In northern NJ it's all about the time of day you go and the traffic. Strip malls are as prevalent as gas stations around here, but, the nearest large shopping center is 10 miles from my house. It takes me between 15 and 45 minutes to get there depending on traffic. Once in a blizzard it took me 6 1/2 hours to get through the Lincoln Tunnel.

OK I don't think any one can beat me on work commute as it is about a 3 ft walk to anyplace in my "house/office". As for shopping and lds it all depends on where I am parked for the night.

I live in between 2 small towns and have a 3rd one a little farther away. The closest one with a Wal-Mart is about 15 miles. The 3rd town has a better selection of stores and has Wal-Mart and it is 25 miles. If I want to go to the Mall or a Movie or a GOOD resturant it takes an hour, being about 45 or so miles. I love it here though!!!!

Heck here in PortO'Connor, the nearest stop light is 30 miles away, and to Wally world, Heb, the only high school in the county, to Really go shopping it's 1 hrs drive. But for some reason all the Houston, Austin, , San Antonio, Dallas, and inbetween drive down every weekend to the cost, to pack the town to their weekend homes, some in the Millions,,, That is ok, I like taking their disposable income, for their boats. ;) Buty only takes 2 min to get to work. Since the whole town is 3 miles long and 3/4 mile long, and the Hiway runs into the bay, with water on 3 sides of town and the Gulf of Mexico a 2 1/2 mile boat ride.

Here in the "Down the Shore" area of Jersey, everything is just around the corner really... Like Port O'Connor, TX, all the people from North Jersey & NYC, etc, come down here to their "shore house" to give us their money... lol...
