So I am finally leaving the desert and moving to Vancouver, WA at the end of the month. Was wondering if anyone could give me some insight into the diving near that area. Looks like I'll finally get some use out of that drysuit.

Thanks!

That is great news!!

We have several divers from Vancouver and I know the diving is supposed to be incredible! I've dove the PNW and loved it! Will be trying to dive Vancouver soon...

Hmm...maybe we'll come see you when you get moved in! :wakawaka:

Your closest SD dive buddy would be Dive_Girl.
I suggest you stop by Seven Seas Scuba and say hi to the gang.

There are a few more of us up North.
Its common to head to the Seattle area when you plan on diving.
Hood Canal is another popular choice for the Portland/Vancouver crowd.

Definately will want to get the drysuit back out. Water temps last Sat were a balmy 53

53 degress?!?! :wakawaka: That's a bit different than the 80 degrees we see in Mexico. I actually took my Rescue class in a 45 degree lake, so I am sure I will be fine.

I will be sure to stop by Seven Seas after I get settled into the new place.

Thanks for the info!

Looking at your avatar ~ first thing you will need to buy from Seven Seas is a hood.
Gloves if you don't already have some.
A nice big light is another purchase ~ I recommend a canister type. :lmao:

With those things and a drysuit ~ No one will know that you are use to warm Mexican waters...

Oh and don't scream like a girl when the cold water first hits your face. :P
The screams always gives the warm water divers away. :lmao:

My bad. I should have probably stated Vancouver, WA/Portland, OR for those that are not familiar with the area.

I picked up a hood when I bought the dry suit. I use canister lights for my video lights, so I am okay there, too. Speaking of which, what's the viz like up there? Any chance a guy could get some decent footage (aside from my lack of skills as a videographer, anyway)?

I will probably need to upgrade my gloves and pick up some thermals, though.

ROTFLMAO. I promise will do my best to act like a manly man.

Oh, and even though I am not in BC, everyone is welcome to come visit. I love company.

You did say Vancouver, WA. It was others who probably weren't aware of the two Vancouvers that I was addressing. I don't know if there's any diving in the Columbia River?

OK ... hold on here. Let me get this straight. You're moving FROM beautiful Tempe TO Vancouver? Don't take this the wrong way, but does your job come with a mental health plan?

Yup. I am moving from the brown, dry, cactus-ridden, 125 degrees in the summer, only 2 seasons a year, 8 hours from the ocean, sprawling suburban oven that is Phoenix Metro to the green, wet, tree-laden, cool in the summer, mild in the winter, amazing in the spring and fall, only a couple hours from the ocean city that is Vancouver, WA.
