EDMUNDS UNDERWATER PARK, Seattle, WA
SATURDAY, APRIL 14th
Janna Nichols (the other half of Pacific NW Scuba) is an amazing Fish and Invertebrate ID instructor. As such, she started a Pacific NW Critter Watchers group in conjunction with her REEF surveying work. Pacific NW Critter Watchers group's mission is to: Put Fun into Critter Watching and Promote Critter Surveying in the PNW. They conduct quarterly survey dive days and the next one coming up is Saturday April 14th. I will be partipating by diving with a youth dive group from a local environmental school.
Join us for a Potluck lunch and BBQ, and do a dive or two as your schedule allows. This is the perfect chance for beginners, intermediate or experienced critterwatchers to get together, do a few surveys, talk about fish, and meet other critterwatchers! Never done a survey? Come anyway! The REEF experts like Janna, Wylerbear, and REEFDiver will show you how! They'll supply loaner slates, underwater paper, scan sheets, pencils and ID books. This is also a good time to turn in your completed surveys from the past few months. Come anytime you like - REEF divers will be there from 10am - 3pm.
You'll find dive site maps, directions, reviews, etc here.

Improve your ID skills by being able to discuss what you've seen with more experienced folks
Contribute to REEF's data collection by:
- obtaining a strong sample from individual sites
- focusing efforts on particular sites of interest
- defining the minimum number of surveys for the data to be really useful and the number of surveys at which the statistics stabilize
