WW Ill take my shirt please as i have 10 dives sent in to DAN from my dives down here in PR. how would you like the proof ?
Also here is the update on the PDE Research extravaganza. a majority of the details are above. but
as for computers Level three computers are from Cochran, Suunto, Uwatec, and Diverite as long as you are using the lastet version of there software, which has been formated to make the data submitted match the information the researchers need for PDE. Level 2 computers are from Delta P (VR3), reefnet, and oceanic. if you dont have a computer from one of the manufactures below contact the research department and they will assist you in getting your profiles submitted, but then also contact your computers manufacture and ask them to work with DAN to make there software compatible with DAN's software because the more divers that participate the better and safer they can make this sport for all.
as far as restrictions well i dont qualify for the prizes, but that doesn't stop me submitting my personal dives as the more dives that are submitted it will help the researchers at DAN to help make diving safer for diver, which is at the core mission of DAN. This internship so far has taught me a lot about DAN what it stands for and the research its doing, all to make diving safer for divers.
Also Tech divers please send your profiles as well as there is still much to be learned from tech diving and divers on many levels. Then if your interested there is going to be a two day conference on Tech diving and looking future more details here Link
CCR divers DAN is looking for dive profiles from you all as well but you will need to contact the research department for further details, but i do know that they are looking for profiles and such from this group of divers. the research department can be reached at via this online form http://www.diversale...asp?RE=Research
If anyone has any questions on PDE or the extravaganza send me a PM and i will answer any questions you may have as this is part of my internship and Im eating, breathing, and diving PDE right now if yanno what i mean.
Finally for those with the cochran computers running analyst versions 3 or 4 if you need help with the software i will help you out as best as i can as Im working with this software on a daily basis and have learned most of intriquecies of the software. but in any case send me a PM and i will work with you as much as i can.

Please note - as of May 26th, the download software for Oceanic and VR3 does NOT work for PDE; the manufacturers of these computers are attempting to get their software setup so they can be used for PDE and as tooth suggested, please feel free to e-mail these manufacturers (particularly if you own one of these brands of computers) and tell them that you want to do PDE and would happily but their new download software if it included the DAN/PDE compatibility. The more these manufacturers hear from their customers, the better! Additionally, if you do have one of these computers, feel free to contact DAN research as they may have an alternative method for you to submit your profiles.
Thanks guys for supporting PDE!

gracefulc - Wylerbear dives a Suunto and inked_diver dives a Uwatec. I will ask Wylerbear to submit her dives and give her this info if she doesn't already have it and I'll work with inked_diver to download and submit his from our upcoming Hawaii dives!
DG - That's great! As long as Wylerbear and Inked_diver have the latest versions of the PC interface they can just fill out the biographical/medical form once, then click a handy "Send to DAN" button every time they downloads their dives! Even if it isn't the latest software version, they can still participate! DAN is working hard to make it as easy as possible for divers to submit profiles to PDE and is so doing a great job at it! The more profiles the better! Plus who DOESN'T want a free DAN t-shirt?

I enrolled but then I realized that I will have to contact DAN for instructions on sending data from an older Cochran. Mine's a 1998 model and uses Analyst 3.03.
Brinybay
Check under your log book function and see if you have a send to DAN button if you do then you can send the profiles to DAN. if it has that button left me know via PM
GracefulC: thanks for clearing that up as i left that a little open ended, but yes that is correct - Right now VR3 isnt compatable with the DAN software right now(But if users will contact DeltaP and ask that may change); But if users are really chomping at the bit to donate profiles if they will contact Petar Denoble in the research department he will help you out.

8 training dives (on 40%) on Saturday logged on my DiveRite. We'll see how those look once downloaded... I can't use the ones from Sunday because I didn't reset that computer to the % I was diving and it defaulted to 99% stupid me! I was diving my oceanic as my primary with my DiveRite attached to my BC. I reset my Oceanic and was running too fast forgetting the DiveRite. So those logs are useless. bummergracefulc - Wylerbear dives a Suunto and inked_diver dives a Uwatec. I dont know how WW is submitting the dives but if shes doing it the way I think she is you wont get the credit unless you have a DAN diver ID from enrolling in PDE at this address
https://www.diversal...nroll/index.asp
and then give it to her, or they will count towards her FRC (Field Research Coordinator) submittions, but if shes doing it a different way i will stand corrected.

No worries. I have been a DAN member for a while and am fully behind what they do. They can have the info for free... I am just glad they don't want the dives from my VEO 200. On one dive I had, it was dead on the surface so I used the Cochran, but still took my computer with me. It woke up at 95' set to the 50% Nitrox default. A little beeping and squawking ensued along with "Ascend Now" alerts. I went with the Cochran which was set to the correct EAN mix. According to the VEO after the dive I had a PO2 of 3.42. That might have raised a few eye brows @ DAN...

MANY a dive has been saved by diving the cochrans...either via our research efforts or just in general. That is not to say that they are infalliable but they have to be robust for the US Navy to standardize on it! And that's ok with me. I am almost diving Cochran exclusively these days...they make a great computer that doesn't reset itself, calculates as fast as you can mess up and and doesn't pull the DOA act!

is that a oceanic computer?
WW
many dives have been saved but theres a feature in the analyst software where that if you have to change computers mid trip for some reason you can take your tissue loading data and put it onto another computer, which is handy when you really need it. if you dont believe send Tom Mount (IANTD) a email about a student of his as rebreather week in cayman a while back and how he was able to keep diving after his computer locked up on him, and they where able to copy over the tissue loading information from his wifes computer so he could finish his training.
even though there are those that dont like cochrans i personally really like them and have been diving with them sense the start. yeah i have had a few issues but it was because of user error rather then a factory problem. Then for me the tech support is great in that i can call in and actually get a person on the phone and get my emails resolved quickly for simple thinkings (on the other hand the more complicated the issue like a software one the longer it takes).
plus the company is US based and owned one that most scuba companies cant say very much anymore. Plus the founder of the company is a genious and holds just a few patents, like the one for the microchip.
WW yeah there tough but lets not go into the algorithm behind them as it would make some peoples heads spin .
anyways everyone if you have a level 3 computer please send in your profiles as the more you send the better and safer diving will be for all.

Yes. VEO 200 is from Oceanic. It is a decent little computer and does everything I need, but there are a few quirks... I am looking at a backup DC now...is that a oceanic computer?
That speaks volumes for their service. Just getting a human being on the phone who knows what they are talking about is head and shoulders above most. Then for me the tech support is great in that i can call in and actually get a person on the phone and get my emails resolved quickly.
