Count me in on this one!
The woods are lovely, dark and deep,
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.

WW,

What is the specific diving itinerary??? How many days up at Darwin and Wolf???? I know they are regulating the number of dive boats and dive days per boat up there (of course where the best action is).
How many dives per day? Are there island hikes scheduled between the dives on SI????

Also are there any certification requirements (for example AOW) as I know the currents can be exceptionally strong and challenging?

Thanks,
Robin

From the sample itinerary I saw at BTS, there are 5 possible dives a day and they typically spend 1 day at Wolf Island and 2 days at Darwin. There are optional island tours during the week except at Darwin and Wolf.

I don't know of any specific cert requirements, though they do require that you have logged dives within 6 months of boarding the vessel. I'll ask the boat for more information regarding experience levels and such on Monday

some of the packages do include air to Galpagos from Quito but I am not sure this one does

I'll add this question to my email to the boat tomorrow and will update the thread with the answer :cheerleader:

Excellent!!

we can do the air for you too, but we can't book anything until July or August due to inventory being published by the airlines.

you could probably do a single room but I'll have to ask the boat for the single room rate. So, that's one more question for my email tomorrow!

I'd love to go but I too shall be "slumming" in Florida, and still trying to convince my new bosses that I'm not worthless, I guess a long dive trip 6 months after starting work might not be the best way to do that.

This has been my DREAM destination (Australia being 2nd) since I started diving. Can you let me know airfare from BWI for 1 person and from PDX for a second person? I'm thinking this could be my graduation present to myself and my mom since she's always wanted to go too. :cheerleader:

Just did a quick search... air from New York JFK to Quito (this June 2007, not 2008) is $452... round trip! Alot cheaper than I thought it would be.
We all must believe in something... I believe I'll have another beer

Cool! I will be fleshing out as many details as I can shortly but I was very excited to get a 2008 date during WHALESHARK season when most boats are only accepting 2009 dates.

Also this trip is limited to 16 people on this luxury vessel. And ALL rooms can be a queen or two twins!

As for single upgrades....they are expensive but we'll get a price for you. In diving on a liveaboard the BIGGEST price is not the cost of the diving but the floating hotel. When you do a s/o you are only cutting out the price of diving and not the most expensive part...the floating hotel.

As for the pricing including air...no it does not. It only includes the boat, diving, food, lodging, alcohol and sodas, etc.

The price is a good deal AND we'll have certain advantages since the boat is owned by a resident Ecuadorian company and licensed by Explorer Ventures. This will give us more flexibility in the face of changing legislation.

And finally....yes you'll need some good diving skills for this trip. This is NOT a beginner's trip.

More to come soon...kamala
