This is really an excellent, hour long video on the most common problem as well as injury in scuba - equalizing....

From the University of Washington...

The Diver's Ear: Under Pressure
Scuba diving, snorkeling, swimming and flying can be fun ways to explore the depths and heights of the world - especially if you can clear your ears as pressure changes. In this presentation you will learn techniques for preventing middle ear barotraumas and steps to equalize pressure in your ears, and safe ways to prevent "ear squeeze."

Yeah I know: I've been branded a non-group person - doesn't play well with others. I am so upset. Posted Image Let me know if you want to have some fun, without the drama - I'm good for that.

I've never had problems clearing so didn't watch it myself for a long time. It was interesting to hear about this problem and how it ties to Vertigo, too. Wonder if this has anything to do with motion sickness...?

I would think that the relation to motion sickness would be a no-brainer (I am good at those). I believe that motion sickness happens when the eyes and the ears send different signals to the brain. Although my thoughts are always open to new knowledge and/or corrections... :)

I don't know for sure. I don't incur either problem generally, so there's some support. The very rare times I have been bothered by motion sickness, closing my eyes and accepting the feelings worked for me. I'd like to hear from others who do have problems with clearing ears and/or motion sickness - and if they've tried all the tricks in this vid....?

Is this video still available? I tried the link and it didn't connect to anything. It's been a year since you posted...but I thought I'd ask, just in case. Thanks!

Yep, that's it! Thanks for the link  !

I can't say I actually listened to the whole thing, but the maneuvers were worthwhile. I'm afraid I don't have a 55 minute attention span anymore. :-D
