Didn't some Humbolt Squid show up in Calif. recently?

I just posted a thread with an article on the monster squids in the Aquarium: http://www.singlediv...a...c=13576&hl=

I did a few dives around Puget Sound in Sept, and it was awesome. My little 4C light didn't do much in the local viz, should have borrowed my bud's 8C, but it was still great. Giant starfish, mostly the Sun stars up to 5 ft I think but a few 5 ray stars at 3ft, acres of orange and white anemones, all kinds of little crabs, one pipefish, one giant octopus asleep in a crack - tempting, but I didn't wake it, color cucumbers and so forth. I was a little under prepared for the 47-50F water, but managed. Next time, more prepared.

In addition to the shore dives, did 3 dives off of an all day boat in the San Juans. Quite an adventure. :cool1:

Gis Gal maybe you will have to entice Dive Girl to come up for another Searching for Sixgill night this year at Cove 2!

I will do my best... :birthday:

Hey DG ~ You and Luke wanna come up some weekend and sleep over at my house???
We can go six-gill diving at Alki and drink midnight margaritas again :birthday:
You have my number ~ give me a call. I can always adjust my schedule if I know your coming up to dive.
I have a new tank and my wing should be here on Friday.
Lets go diving :cool1:

I hope that does the trick. :birthday:

Pir8 ~ We have great shore dives in the Seattle area ~ I do 95% or more of my dives from shore.
100' is an easy depth to find on a shore dive here.
Puget Sound was formed by a glacier... It is very deep in spots.

Somehow, somewhere I need to find a few more vacation days so I can check this out. Do ya think my backup plan of hitting the lottery might come true and I can retire early?

We'll look at the calendar and see what weekend works best and let you know then put out the word to the PNW SD gang! Would Tony be able to join us!?

Sounds great. Can't wait to see you and Luke again. :lmao:

I have no idea what Tony's schedule is like. I do know he is diving.
We dove together the night of the 23rd ~ Day Island Wall... It was a great dive.
No six-gills to report but we did see 2 nice GPO's and a smaller one, a pair of Wolfies.
The big old boy managed to snag a young female ~ lucky guy. She was beautiful with her orange coloring.

HEY TONY ~ You going six-gill diving with us when we finally figure out when?

I bet Dive Girl is pissed....how long has she been looking for a 6-gill!

:lmao:

OH and I forgot to answer that...that would be 15++ years, but gee who's counting!!! Argh! Luke has predicted he will claim his first sighting within his first year of diving, so he has 4 months leeway to go! Drat the youngins!

I would love to. August is getting busy for me. I talked to someone who had a nice encounter off Owen's Beach.

I saw another Sixgill tonight. This one was a 7' female at Cove 1. For those of you in the Tacoma area have you started to hear of sightings yet at Owens Beach?
