just wanted to give you an update....
he's doing great, the surgeon is joking in the room, and it's only gonna be another 4 hours maybe. WAY better than last time, dan said. mary is so stressed...i wish i could be with her but the OR is a zoo today. there is so much crap going on...we even had a fire in one of the ORs (the bright or lights). at least all the bad stuff is happening OUTSIDE kenny's room....
anyway, just wanted to tell you. i've gotten a bunch of pms today with lots of prayers attached. thank you all for being there....

Eileen called me right as I got to church tonight- they were able to get all of the remaining the tumor today in surgery!!! It's gone!!!!
All I can say is that our Lord is truly, truly loving & compassionate & I just have to praise Him!

just wanted to post a completely selfish, non-diving related update about my great nephew, kenny.....
yesterday kenny had his third surgery for removal of a malignant brain tumor. this time, however, the surgeon was able to remove ALL of the remaining tumor with relatively little blood loss or brain swelling. it seems that the chemo he'd received had done it's job and knocked off the blood supply to the tumor, making this resection relatively easy. i've never seen my friend dan (kenny's surgeon) in quite such a great mood. i think he has a personal vendetta anginst this tumor!
kenny's still on the ventilator and is sedated until the docs are sure his blood pressure won't get too high, which could cause the operative site to bleed. but, little bottomless drug-pit that he is, he's chewing through that sedation...i wouldn't be surprised if they let him wake up today. the joy and relief on my niece's face was beautiful to see.
this doesn't mean he's cured. he still faces 4 more rounds of chemo and then radiation. his tumor is very malignant and the prognosis sucks. but he's gonna be fine for now. hopefully, that will ba a very long "now".....
i can't express the gratitude i feel for your thoughts and prayers. i know there are a lot of prayers floating around from you guys...you can practically see them floating over his bed (or maybe i'm so exhausted i'm hallucinating!?). mary wants me to thank everyone who has visited kenny's website and offered kind words. it means so much to her. she will get around to thank-yous for your kind contibutions to kenny's fund. and kenny loves getting his cards....MY mail! he says!.....
there is a lesson here for all of us:
cherish the ones you love. don't let the fear of rejection keep you from saying those words.
family, children, friends and lovers.....let them all know how you feel now.
you just might not have a tomorrow.
god bless you guys :dltears:

Words so true...
Kenny has been in my prayers since his last surgery...want you to know I haven't stopped praying and won't.
(Trust me that I know loss all too well: lost my husband in 2001...he was still young...and it was suddenly. Our last words of love and hope is all that remains.)

Thanks for posting the update and the pics. My prayers continue to be with Kenny (and your entire family), but I'm thrilled to hear he did so well in surgery.

i was just visiting him (snuck out of the OR!) and he was laughing and playing up a storm. AND.....he got up out of bed and walked around the entire floor. he has been very weak all summer, and the tumor really affected his balance. but seeing him walk, and laugh, and just act like a kid was amazing.
so....we hang on to every day. and every day he gets stronger, and just goes about the business of being a kid.
thank you all once agin for your continued prayers. you have no idea how much they mean to all of us.....
