I am very happy to say that Larry aka Orcaman is alive and going to be released from the hospital today. I am sad that I saw him almost die this week while trying to get him from the Bahamas to the US over New Year's Eve and Day. It took over 24 hours of non-stop motion to get him from the liveaboard we were on thru numerous ambulance rides, several hospitals, 2 airvacs and then into surgery at 11:45pm Dec 31st. As I brought the new year in the hospital waiting room I prayed he would live to see 2008 and that he would be ok. My prayers were answered at 2:30am when I was advised that he was going to make it. He's been in critical care most of the week and is due to be released today.
He has asked that you send your well wishes, good thoughts and prayers via the site and allow him to rest as he is very weak. While strong in spirit as those who know him, he has been through a very difficult ordeal and is still not ready to fully speak about it. Please honor his need for quiet and rest but PLEASE keep him in your prayers that he will be able to dive again.
As a diver our worst fear is that we'll never be able to do that which we love so much. Larry had hip surgery in August of last year and this trip was his first diving trip since that surgery. Now we are not sure when he will be able to dive again. A lot will be known in the next few weeks. He needs your support and prayers more than ever right now and I thank you all for respecting his privacy regarding his illness and his need for rest.
When he is ready and able to do so he will perhaps share what happened to him but in the meantime he is focused on staying stressfree and letting his body heal.
In the meantime, thank you so much for your support especially the outstanding members on the Bahamas trip who assisted with getting his and my gear back to the states, proceeding with the trip keeping us both in their throughts, their laughs and their prayers knowing we were with them in spirit and of course for honoring Larry's privacy.
Again we ask that you honor his privacy and allow him to talk about what happened to him once he has peiced it all together and has fully recovered. This will ensure that he remains relaxed and will afford him the much needed rest he needs to fully recover.
Thank you all and yes...it is indeed a great new year! Kamala
