The South Florida contingent from E Divers did two night dives last night. Our plan was to do two night wreck dives out of Deerfield Beach. We get to the first wreck, the RSB1, and the dive master misses hooking on to the wreck because of the current. He hooks on with the second attempt. The ball at the surface is practically underwater because of the strong current. From the boat, I can see the dive master's bubbles going by sideways, not up. I jump in first and grab the descent line as I am jumping in. Had to pull hard to get down. Had I not been the pathfinder, I would have aborted the dive. Top of the wreck was in 80' and I burned about 400 PSI just getting down. Penetrated the upright wreck and inside, it was ok, got down to 112' and looked around for a while before heading back to the line. I noticed that there were very few lights, so I knew that several divers aborted the dive. Did a one minute stop at 56' and had my legs and arms wrapped around the ascent line. Same thing at my three minute stop at 20' .

When I came up, I told the dive master that if we are going to anchor on the second wreck that I was not doing the dive. We took a vote and agreed to do a drift dive for the second dive.

The second dive made up for the first. We did the Boca Artificial reef. We saw Triggerfish, a pufferfish on steroids, the cutest little goldenrod eel, a skate ray, etc. Max depth was 75'. This dive made the trip worth while.

I'm dry until Sunday.

:birthday: Was on the dive with Glen, was a white knuckle trip down and up the line. (Capt. estimated 2.3 knots) The wreck was cool with rooms to swim thru inside. I'd do it again to see the outside. It's also one of those dives you're thankful your skills are tweeked to know how to work with the current and not fight it. Second dive was a nice drift. I've never seen a puffer so big! and the big Hog's - yum!
