Can anyone recommend some north florida dive spots? Salt or fresh water but not cave diving? I'd like to recommend some to somebody but don't know of any myself!

In the Gainsville/High Springs/Lauraville/Mayo/LiveOak area
Orange Grove at Peacock Springs State Park has a large basin and is open to OW divers.
Troy Springs is also nearby, I'm full cave, and it kept me occupied for over an hour (there is a small cave enterence, but its undivable, basically a LARGE basin and a very shallow riverrun full of life)
Royal is nearby...
Ginnie Springs...

Here's a comprehensive map showing pretty much everything and a breakdown of skill levels/types of diving:
http://www.cavedivin...tp/cave_map.pdf

Some sites are commercial properties and can cost $20-40+ a day to dive..., but the majority are State or County parks, and a $40 yearly pass goes a long way for State Parks when it includes dive access to some very nice spots...

I & a dive buddy are probably free on Sunday April 13th If anyone is doing that day.

Drew I think I am free for the weekend you are in town & can prob dive with JASA in the am on Sat (or even Sunday) & bridge in afternoon. According to the tide chart Zach gave me I think high tide is 130pm on May 10th so morning boat trip then off a couple mile drive to bridge might just work. I defer to Al as I've never dove the bridge. He would know best time.
It would be great to see you again

Deb,
You want to hit the water 30-45 minutes prior to high tide. The site I use is saying 1:06PM on the 10th.
http://www.mobilegeo...d...amp;m=1&d=1

If you go in 45 minutes early, you'll have some current to fight, but... it won't be long until the current starts to die. (most of the time) Sometimes it will fool you... I've had some dives where slack tide only lasted a few minutes, and other dives where slack tide would never end... like last weekend. (I got in the water late and still had a 91 minute dive... I could have gone longer, but I was cold.)
