DIVE AROUND THE CLOCK
A 24 Hour Dive Marathon
Local Divers to Participate in 24 Hour Scuba Relay to Raise Money for Charity

Dive Around the Clock is being organized by TL Sea Diving - a PADI 5 Star IDC Dive Center that has offered classes, travel and equipment sales since 1996. This unique event was the brainchild of TL Sea staff instructors Kyle Larson and Larry Trenda. Both men wanted to bring the Puget Sound Dive community together in order to give back to the community.

Children’s Hospital and Regional Medical Center was chosen as the beneficiary of Dive around the Clock. Founded in 1907 and celebrating 100 years of care, Children’s is ranked as one of the best children's hospitals in the country by U.S. News & World Report and Child magazines. Children's provides excellent patient care, conducts cutting-edge pediatric research and serves as the pediatric referral center for WA, AK, MT and ID.

During Dive Around the Clock, 2 man buddy teams will be rotated every 30 minutes underwater to ensure that there are divers underwater continuously for a 24 hour period starting at 4:00pm on July 25, 2008. Participating divers will be notified by mail of their dive time(s) and other important day of event information by July 10, 2008. All Dive Around the Clock participants will receive a commemorative T-Shirt.

To participate in Dive Around the Clock, an entry fee of $25 is due by July 1, 2008 ($35 late entry fee after July 1, 2008). There is no minimum pledge requirement but participants are strongly urged to do their best to raise funds for Children’s prior to the event. Pledges may be in the form of any the 3 following methods: 1. lump sum pledges; 2. pledge a dollar amount per minute or hour of the diveathon duration; and 3. pledge a dollar amount per minute or hour the 2-man buddy team is underwater over the duration of the diveathon. Pledges can even be made online this year at: http://www.divearoun..._directions.htm.

REEF Diver and Wylerbear both participated last year and have been getting the word out about participating again this year! REEF Diver obtained her PADI instructor certification last year with TL Sea and has been honored by DAN for her DAN instructional work. Wylerbear also obtained her PADI instructor certification last year with Seven Seas Scuba (my dive shop). Both of these ladies are prolific in the area for their outstanding dive professionalism, REEF work, conservation awareness, and more. Diving with them is educational and combining it with a great cause is even more worth while! Some of you may recognize the TL Sea name if you attended the DEMA last year when the co-owner, Trux Turkla, was awarded the 2007 Do Pro Challenge grand prize.

It's Winter time - you know you're a diver when you're scraping ice off your windshield INSIDE your vehicle...!
