Went diving with the awesome Pir8 today at Dutch Springs. The plan was to get my new gear wet and ready for the ocean and to work out any kinks. One of the new pieces I had to try out was my new OMS 90# Bungeed wing. The inflator is in a different spot on the wing than on my 45 and I noticed I didn't like how far out to the side it was. I even switched the LP port my hose was attached to in an effort to keep the inflator close to my body. On the first dive my concerns were realized as It was constantly out of my reach and it took way to long to get neutral. I even kicked up some silt a couple of times. Frustrated, once I got a hold of it I never let it go for the rest of the dive. Once I got neutral though, things went fine. After the dive, Pir8 and I discussed a solution for the problem and dive 2 went nicely with no issues. Special thanks to Pir8 for allowing me to join his group to get those dives in. He's an awesome buddy and if you ever get the chance to dive with him take it. The bottom temp at 72ffw was a cool and comfy 54 degrees for anyone who cares.

Lessons Learned:

1. Always test out your gear in a controlled environment before the season gets into full swing (glad I did)

2. Go with your gut. I had an opportunity to solve that problem before it became one.

I quite often hook the inflator hose under the chest strap if it's in the right place.

Just got one of those beauties meself - haven't gotten it wet yet - what is PIR8's recommendation?
No aquarium, no tank in a marine land, however spacious it may be, can begin to duplicate the conditions of the sea. And no dolphin who inhabits one of those aquariums or one of those marine lands can be considered normal.

You must have been diving among a bunch of wetsuited divers, our end of the quarry was 47 degrees!

90# wing? If you put helium in that you could fly! The real problem with big wings is the air bubble has too much space to run around and it upsets trim.

Save the big wing for doubles.
Get a smaller one maybe a 45 for single tank diving
Always keep your inflator hose strapped down to the sholder harness so that it doesn't float away on you.
Get use to adjusting your body position so that you can still make the dump valve you want to use a high point. This includes the hose you have secured to your harness, then you won't have to hold onto it and you can be in better trim with your hands.
Never say Never! Its almost as long a time as always!

I took the whole assembly (corrugated and LP hose) and stuck it into the hose holder. It's a little big but it fit. I am going to flip the inflator around though as to only have to put the LP hose through the hose holder to give me the same effect with less in the way of my chest D-Ring.

I was in my 7/6 fullsuit :wakawaka:

Upon download my computer did say the lowest temp I hit was 48 degrees 11:00 into dive 1. Why it said my bottom temp was 54 when I ended the dive I don't know.

The large wing was purchased in anticipation of switching to doubles sometime late this season. I didn't bother to switch to my 45 as I wanted to test it out and I didn't fear the increased drag as for the bungees. Trim wasn't that bad overall.

Love my ScubaPro Classic Air. It is a vest style with integrated air inflater and NO HOSE... I had to get a Knighthawk as I could not use the Classic Air with my Dry Suit, but it is a kick butt BC for wet suit diving.
