Once again I headed out with Helen from Abucs for a great day of diving. It was my turn for the Kinghorn and the Keystorm.

Of course I joked with her about the previous weekend, and asked if "pretty please the coasties could visit us".. hmmm I got "the look". :usflag:

We made the looooooooooooooooong trip out to the Kinghorn from the dock (for those that don't know Rockport... if you're lucky it's 5 minutes). We did our descent, then as my buddies had never visited the wreck, I got to lead. We got to see the local population of bass, and one rather large pike. The wreck is ideal for penetration as the upper deck has a number of conveniently placed exit points -- they told me it was a highlight, as they had never actually gone into a wreck. I thought they had --- so I was a bit negligent on that part, but as I knew the wreck quite well, I had no fear that they would have any problems.

After touring, we ascended, and were soon off to the Bolt Castle customs booth. We arrived with no boat issues, and after a few questions (mine "Had I always been a Canadian?") we were welcomed into the USA. After offering to give the customs officer a free scuba review (he mentioned he would like to see some of the Canadian wrecks, but hasn't been diving for a couple of years) we were off... or were we?

Yes, I had momentary fears of a repeat of what the others experienced -- one of the engines on the boat stalled. Yikes..... I kept telling Helen I was joking, and started talking to the boat to play nice. Either my talking to the boat, or the prayers from Helen, the Emily C behaved, and we were off with two engines running.

We arrived at the Keystorm under clear skies and flat water. We entered the water, and soon were on the wreck. Despite me telling my buddies that the bow was in shallow water -- aprox 30ft, Rod was still astonished when the bow came into view. I swear he spit out his reg and yelled into the water "that's the wreck" while gesturing wildly at the Keystorm.

Again, as I have been on the wreck many times, I got to lead the dive. We had a grand time. I was even more impressed with both my buddies for their dive "style" -- except when goofing off, they had great control for a couple of relative newbies (both with less than 50 dives under their belts).

We ended the day, in true Brockville diving fashion.... we headed off to Dan Humble's "candy store". Just wait until those of you who come to Brockville, you'll understand why we call it the candy store.
