I just purchased my Airline tickets for this Trip :wakawaka:
I'm arriving a few days early to do some exploring in and around the Key West area, I will probably visit the Maritime Museums and get in some local shore diving before the MSV Spree departs on what is going to be an Awesome SD trip!. I will make arrangments later on where I am going to stay on the nights of Aug 8th, 9th, 10th and 15th.

Arriving in Key West 2:49pm at Airport code (EYW) on Aug 8th 2009.
Departing Key West 3:20pm (same airport) on Aug 15th 2009.

I Cant Wait :wakawaka:

:teeth:
Sparky I considered the Train but with all the delays, transfers and DEA shake-downs :wakawaka: I would have to leave two weeks in advance of the Trip to possibly make it on time to meet the Spree.

I'll meet you there early and we can explore Key West together. :wakawaka:

Ms Scubalicious that sounds Great :wakawaka:
Maybe we can arrange for the Fl HH planner in that area to have a HH the night before the Spree departs ?

I know this trip is 10 months away but I will need Lead 14lbs and a HP/Nitrox al100.
Any info on LDS and shore dives in the Key West area would also be Sweet

Bubski

I dont blame you on the train, i took the train down to Austin this past week for a day training class, and I will tell you i wont ever do that again, unless its like a cross country trip as it was worse then TSA& CBP combined on a bad day. Ironicially the airfare prices to key west RT from DFW are real cheap(~300), compared to some of the other tickets i have priced out or purchased for travel in the next 6 months.

Its looking like im going to come in a couple of days earlier as well to see the site that are key west, and so that i can do some photography, and sight seeing. I will do a little more planning to match up with other SDers down there

Hey Bubski,

Glad to hear you are going to make this trip. I just wanted to make sure you and everyone else knows, when flying into Key West you are only allowed 1 bag. You don't have the option of paying for the second bag, you only get to check one bag. Yes you get a carry on as well. Last year I almost had to dispose of some things, luckily I was able to condense my 2 bags into one, it ended up weighing 65lbs on the way to Key West, then with damp gear, 69 lbs, 70lbs is the cut off. It isn't a big deal, one bag should be enough. It is just much nicer to know ahead of time when you are packing at home, than when you show up to check your bags and don't have time to get back to your vehicle and the only way you will be able to get on the plane is to start throwing non essential things away.

Keith,
Thanks for that Very Important Info Buddy!
I guess I will have to leave my 10x10 inflatable Disco Dance :) :cool2: Floor at home this time :birthday: , but really.. that would have been a bummer to start boarding the plane to Key West only to find out I would have to ditch some things, I'm sure that there are others that are planning on going on this trip that appreciate your advise/info :cool1:

(note)
According to my sun dial there is only 9 months 3 weeks and a few days left till this trip begins :)
