For those of you who still have jobs, or bought a video iPod when you still had a job or a 401(k) plan intact, I've got a favor to ask of you...

No, I don't need you to lend me yours... just your ears, er eyes.

I have three sample video podcasts that are 1 min in length and narrated. I'd like someone to download one of them (or all three) and test them on your iPod to make sure they work. I have about a dozen made with another two dozen in the works. I want to make sure I'm exporting them in the right format.

Just go to my website page below and click on the images. You can post here or PM me your experience with them.

Star Thrower Educational Multimedia (S.T.E.M.) Video Podcasts

As I develop these I will need to buy an iPod to demonstrate them (nice to be able to deduct it from my taxes. Oh, wait... I'm a dive bum and don't earn enough to pay taxes. If you have any recommendations on the 3rd vs 4th generation iPod Nanos, I'd appreciate hearing them.

I think I'm technically challenged, and since my teenagers are grown and gone, have no on-site tech support.

I have an iPhone (very cool btw) -

I went to your website, and clicked an image and it complained "DOWNLOAD FAILED Safari cannot download this file"

Can someone explain the right way to download and load onto my iphone?

btw - I love the nanos - and gen 4 is the way to go - twice the memory (16gb) for the same price - and they have the genius playlist option, and the visual album search.
No aquarium, no tank in a marine land, however spacious it may be, can begin to duplicate the conditions of the sea. And no dolphin who inhabits one of those aquariums or one of those marine lands can be considered normal.

Mark, without being a techie, I know safari does have some problems with webpages. Maybe Simon will chime in if not too busy. Have you tried Mozilla firefox? I tend to use that almost exclusively on my computer (MAC), especially since I noticed Safari had a problem with the SD website.

BTW, Bill, I did manage to download them all and use quickktime to view. Very nice. Thanks. I will let you know when I put them on the IPOD... although I use the bigger video version... mostly for music
Mark.. not a single problem using firefox.

Safari is the built-in browser on the iPhone... that is where the exception was thrown.

Like you, I successfully downloaded the mp4 files to my laptop, and viewed the videos with quicktime (GREAT btw Dr BIll) - then....

I got instructions from Sara_the_Brown - aka my only daughter - and loaded the files into iTunes under Movies - also worked.

THEN I synced my iPhone - and they don't seem to be anywhere on it.

Like I said, I'm technically challenged, so doubt this is a Dr Bill problem.

I put the files on my iPhone 3G and my iPod Classic 160GB and they played fine, so your format seems good.

Many thanks to all for checking this out. As I create my new DVD series on the critters of the kelp forest, I'll be extracting the 1-2 min short subject versions from those edited files to create more podcasts. I think I can eventually sell them for $100 each... er, I meant $10... OK, how about $1? Inverse powers of 10.

Weird board behavior.

Long story short - it worked fine on her iPod -

They also work on my iPhone once I figured out how to scroll down in iTunes and select them ! !

Odd. I subscribed to this thread, and I hadn't got a notice since drbill's last comment (and then yours).
