Well the US version of Thanksgiving is upon us this week and I was hoping I would be moving to SC about this time but instead that fun endeavor will be reserved for sometime in 2009 as the market is completely dead right now where I'm at.

However I will be spending the holidays with my mother, sister and her family (that is a treat since they are often with his family for Thanksgiving) and I'll also have a couple of SD members joining me at my mom's house as well for a home cooked turkey meal!

So what are your plans...and how do you celebrate Thanksgiving?

My first Thankgiving without my kids around. Thankfully I have my amazing dive buddies close.

I will be staying local and spending the day at a friends place.
First year in a long time I won't be cooking the meal and hosting. :wavey:

I did promise to bring dessert. :welcome:

MMMMMmmmmmm dessert! Be sure to make plenty!

Since my daughter & her family are going with his family to Branson for the holiday, I have volunteered to serve at the local Salvation Army kitchen that day with a friend.

Im in Naples, FL visiting my parents for the holiday. Did go diving on Sunday. After growing up in the Northeast, Thanksgiving in Florida is much more comfortable, even with everyone bundled up with high temps around 75 and lows in the 50's.

It's my first Thanksgiving without my family. A friend of mine from b-school has invited me to join her and her family at her townhouse in Houston.

I'll be spending the holiday at my mother's house in Franklin, North Carolina. The only bad part is the 4.5 hour drive from Birmingham!

I am spending Thanksgiving in an airplane, specifically a NW Boeing 747 in seat 73A. I feel very fortunate, and am happy that Turkey is NOT on the menu.

Will arrive in Indonesia on Saturday afternoon. :thankyou: Lembeh.

I'm leaving the beach and heading to the mountains. I'll be in Tennessee at my parents enjoying the Great Smoky Mountains for a few days. Traditional will be the word of the day for us, parades on tv, football, turkey and pumpkin pie!
As for me, I'm feeling pretty scubalicious.

I'm not American and I am not in America but I have somehow been persuaded to cook a thanksgiving dinner for some cullinary challenged American friends here.... :) Any tips to make it uniquely American?

Don't know if it's unique to America, but one of the "standards" for our special Thanksgiving meal includes having more food on the table than an Army platoon can possibly eat, with turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, yams (with marshmallows), cranberries, hot bread, 3 vegetables, 5 kinds of pie, beer, parades and football on TV, napping after the meal, then going back for more. We're gluttons on this day! :)
