1. If fruit make a breakfast smoothie...you'll never taste the fact the banana was turning brown nor the apple had a bruise on it. Simply add juice, some milk (soy is better) and your slightly old fruit and whirl away. Add some ice cubes and you have a frothy HEALTHY MILKSHAKE!!!
2. If its veggies take some ramen soup and add the veggies to it. You'll make the soup healthy and you use up your veggies. Or if you are really adventurous take the veggies and add water and seasonings and make your OWN veggie broth. You can drink this as is or add it to rice or other foods that call for broth or water.

I read this as i finish a banana after a small yogat for lunch. Now for desert I'm digging into 100% natural Pistachio Crisps( 12 crisps= 140 calories, 11%total fat,4% Sat fat). I'm going to try to stay away from the bronwies that are calling out my name. I will make it to the gym afterwork for 90 min. HA!!!! Scubaskibuying healthy foods and storing them in your cub board or frig in not nutrition. take for example bananas..sure they look good in the store and when you get them home you might eat one or two of them, then a few days later they start turning brown and you usually throw them away. I think most fresh fruits and veggies meet this destiny. You buy whole grain cereal because it is good for you but there it sits in your cub board. I think alot of us buy healthy things like vitamins, fruit, veggies and whole grain cereals and breads but fail to eat them, sure if someone ask you "what do you have to eat at your house"..you can say "I have some really healthy food in my house" but if you don't eat it then your not getting the nutrition from it. I am so guilty myself of doing this that I decided to write about it.
Have A Nice Day

soy is really high in estrogen...rice milk is a much better alternative for guys
Actually there is a lot of confusion on this. The real scoop is both sexes have both estrogen and testosterone needs. The way the phyto meaning plant based estrogens work in soy is they are aborbed by the body if NEEDED and if not needed they BLOCK unwanted estrogen in men and women from the growth hormones flooding our foods etc. (Think chicken, fish, beef etc.)
So actually soy and other plant based estrogens are very good for us. They give us what we need or BLOCK what we don't need in MEN and WOMEN.

Okay, I could just about "hate" you for the gym part. I am being a responsible pet owner and walking my dog......

I have an excellent article about testosterone and what the affects are for each sex if it is too low. It was a very surprising and interesting article, your comment reminded me of it and made me laugh!
When I buy the fresh stuff I buy only in quantities that I KNOW I will consume in the next 48 hours. Otherwise it meets the same fate as B2B. I also cannot keep ice-cream in my home, never, never, it calls to me very loudly. If I really want that ice-cream I have to get dressed and drive 20 minutes into town...I'd have to want it really bad.

I'm with you! Better not to have any type of sweets around at all in my house, or I'm all over it.
Bubski, you just need to buy healthy foods and then eat what you buy, and to hell with impressing others with what's in the pantry!

Okay, seriously though, being a single individual who lives out in the sticks (1/2 hour trip to grocery store), I end up having a fair amount of fruits or vegetables start aging faster than I can eat. Like Kamala, I either make them into soups or smoothies... BUT, you can also freeze them now and use them in recipes later. Bananas, even when brown, will freeze quite nicely and although they are a little gushy when you thaw them, they work fine in recipes like Banana Bread and such... or smoothies. All of my tomatoes get frozen and thrown into the next batch of chili I make, along with any other veggies I can round up

Just curious Wenchie... what seasonings do YOU use for your veggie broth?

Lots of Bay Leaves, peppercorns, onion of course, and a little salt are my basics.

I just made a vegetarian lasagna to use up bits and pieces of veggies I had starting to go south or just not enough to cook by themselves. And I've thrown many a veggie or fruit into the freezer right before I depart on a trip since I ran out of time to use them. (This also makes the fridge much nicer to come home too!)
You can pop those frozen veggies into soups (use one of those homemade stocks you have) or into lasagna with veggies and meat if you like!
