Hey Bubski, I have a George Forman "lean, mean, grillin' machine" too! I use it strictly for meats, 'cuz it keeps the stove clean (no more splatters!), and it's really easy to cook for 1 with it. I never thought of using it for veggies, so somebody please share those recipes!

Bathroom scales always read a bit high after the Holidays. I believe it has something to do with a shift in the magnetic poles or something like that.

I have people ask me why do I have an enemy in my office. Sometimes is lies, sometimes it surprises, and is always there, yep the scale is in my office. Makes me think twice about the snacking in the middle of day, or stress eating. To be honest though, it has been kind to me this past week :respect:

Now everyone can laugh at me. I thought GF was "Girlfriend" not George Foreman; guess the warped sense of humer just leapt up and grabbed a hold of me

I thought the same thing about the term GF. The idea of referring to his girlfriend as a "grilling machine" good for cooking and "more" OMG (as in gosh). I cringed and peaked at the responses pitying the poor sole for drawing fire justly deserved...then I saw the real meaning and said "nevermind".

Never thought of having a scale in my office. However, if you are looking to loose weight, a plan of diet and exercise will require that you eat 5-6 times daily to keep your metabolism burning. Snack items should include: fruits or veggies, a protein bar or shake etc.

I had a Foreman grill, thought it was a pain in the ace to clean so off it went to a better home-bought a grill pan instead!!

Retire you OLD GF grills...(George Foreman not girlfriend) and get the new ones that have REMOVEABLE plates that go easily into the dishwasher and/or clean up by hand.

The new ones are also oversized and include other grilling plate options which are AWESOME for single person cooking, multi-person cooking, low calorie cooking, and plain delicious cooking. The new ones allow you to cook an entire meal at one time. Your meat on one side and your veggies on the other. They also have two deep well plates that allow you to cook fat items such as meat, cheese and veggie stuffed tortillas which are very helpful and a great way to use up leftovers.

To cook veggies...slice thin onion, squash, eggplant, carrots (very thin slices since they are so dense), etc. Mist lightly with olive oil (you can buy olive oil in refillable misting bottles) and then sprinkle VERY LIGHTLY with some season salt. THen steam away and you'll be amazed how good it is. Experiment with different veggies, laying the veggies and misting other flavors such as marinades or grilling sauces. You only need a little as the veggies will steam themselves from their own water/juice. You can basically STEAM or actually GRILL the veggies...whichever you prefer.

I use mine all the time now since getting it last year for Christmas. Prior to that I had a small one that was a pain to clean and I thought it was only good for cooking meat and well...it didn't taste that good to me anyway. Now when I cook meat I make sure I marinade it first or lightly season it with a cajun spice or seasoned salt. I am now a convert... :lmao:

I guess I need to clarify something..I did meet my Girl Friend at the store and she is a grilling expert not so much a grilling machine, I still am the one that has to do the dishes tho :P

Ok Ok :lmao:

No.. I got the George Foreman grilling machine and for veggies (that I would not usually eat) I found that cutting zucchini or yellow squash into slices about 1/2" thick and grilling/steaming them (spices, oils) optional is a good healthy way to cook them vs frying them or boiling them (yuk) The new GF are easier to clean, but the trick is to not over cook meats like hamburgers because they really get stuck on the grill surface even tho its non-stick.

I would also like to use this thread to throw a Shout Out to Mrs Dash as a salt substitute. The reason I bought the new grilling machine was because I really didn't want to change the kind of foods I enjoy eating I just wanted to cook them in a healthier way. I really like to grill foods from the comfort of inside my house especially during the winter season, I'm sure when summer comes around this year I will be back outside grilling on the Bar-B..No Not (Barbie;) anyway I would still like to hear of some creative new recipe's and good reasons why you would use a grilling machine vs frying or baking, PS I like the look of the grill marks.

I used to do this on the BBQ- should work in GF. Double layer a large piece of Alum Foil and a portion of your favorite fish, sliced vegs, 1/2 squezzed lemon , seal up real tight and steam w/ juices from fish & veg on/in pouch & GF. Different terxture for a change. I use this method also for Kielbasi in a pouch. Yum Yum!

I try, I try.....some of the reps that call on my office are smarter than others and do bring in fruit and the less healthy but fun to eat items. Others just bring the unhealthy stuff. I have walked into the kitchen at least three times so far today, and I have resisted the choc chip cookies, dove choc, pastry, egg soufles, and I have eaten the fruit!!
