Time Warp Anyone ????

Any locals need another driver/gas buyer from the FLL/MCO area,,,Tampa,W Palm,,,etc :taz:

Jeff

Yo Sparky...are you going to be driving your own car? Do you need a ride or are you offering a ride? :lmao: Where is the FLL/MCO area, I know where Tampa and WPalm are, where the hell are you gonna be exactly and when?

A) Like I ever know Where, When or even Who I'll be on any given day OR time (Except when Mel says "Pools Open"...I know I'll be gett'in wet real soon)

2) Yankee living above Mason-Dixon line ,No I will NOT be driving down but I figgered I'd fly in to a more reasonable cheap mid Florida city and accompany some SD driver and help w/ driving;gas ;tolls; talk ; sing to them, whatever it takes or is requested :o

D) FLL= Fort Lauderdale MCO = Orlando

WHEW !! Feel like I gave birth :lmao: ( Happy Mothers Day--U All Deserve It)

I'll be arriving early for this trip, I'll be at the Key West Airport (EYW) at 2:49pm Aug 8th and I will be looking forward to meeting any SD members in that area for a day of diving on the 9th and I also could use some info on reasonbily priced hotels in that area for the 8th and the 9th or even some SD members that could take in a wayward diver for a few nights :birthday: anyway this trip is a long way away but the clock keeps ticking Tic Toc. Any word from the Fisher Family if we would be allowed to hover over the Atocha Wreck and check-out history first-hand. I'm really excited to meet Frank and Mel in there new location in the Keys! They are a Top-Notch Diving Op and I am really looking forward to this trip and I hope to see more SD members showing interest and of course signing up for this Dry Tortugas Adventure :usflag:

Airfare is in the low $300's from DFW to EYW which is CHEAP!!!

So I'd like to go ahead and book...heck its cheaper right now to fly to Key West than Miami! :teeth:

But I'm having a :thankyou: moment...I think I saw where some of the folks who flew directly into Key West last year had some luggage issues.

I have tried to find those posts but again another :thankyou: moment.

Anyone recall what the deal was with luggage to Key West? (If it helps I'm allowed 2 bags on AA anyway since I fly enough to keep status with them. )

I remember that thread too Kamala, but can't find it. I believe it was MNJoe (Keith) that posted it. As I remember, flights to Key West only allow for 1 checked bag (I think 45lbs). You don't have the option to pay extra and take another bag.

Hopefully Keith will chime in and confirm, but if you're in a hurry... might PM him.

As I recall... Keith didn't know it until he got to the airport. It was his leg from MIA to Key West that had the restriction... as I remember at least....

Not sure what airline it was either....

According to a wiki the runway at Key West is only 4,801ft /1,463m Now a fully loaded ATR 72 which is what American Eagle flys fully loaded can make it off the runway with 50m to spare, but a jet might have some problems taking off and be weight restricted. If this info pops up from a buried thread it would be of great use as it makes the difference in what i pack.

Doing some research quickly points that it might be Delta that has the outbound weight restriction in that the y fly a CRJ-700 from Key west to Atlanta and that is a extremely weight restricted flight and according to one board they do limit passengers to 1 40lb carry on.

Actually Delta allows ONLY (1) checked bag to Key West.

Check here at the bottom.

Carry-on Baggage Limitations

Domestic: Delta accepts a maximum of two checked baggage items free of charge for each ticketed passenger, in addition to one carry-on bag, plus one personal item. Delta's codeshare partners may have different guidelines and additional restrictions may apply on certain flights*.

Check two bags and carry on one bag, plus one personal item
*Customers traveling to or from Key West, Florida are limited to 1 checked bag.

Sounds like everyone should fly into MIA (Miami) or FLL (Fort Lauderdale) early and do another "Keys Krawl!" (i.e do a day or two of diving in Key Largo, Islamarada, Marathon, etc. on the way down to Key West!)
