I have a trip planned to Crystal River in Florida in March to snorkel with Manatees. While there I want to find a river I can scuba for Megalodon teeth (fossil sharks for people with my-sized vocabulary!). I once read somewhere that there are boats that take divers on a river float trip - it has springs where you can dive and search for the teeth. Very shallow and leisurely. Bubble watchers can stay on the boat or snorkel.
Help, anyone?
If I can't find such an option, I'd like to go on a boat trip for same fossil teeth. I hear Venice Beach no longer the capital for such, but need advice on where and what dive shops are good.

A lot of people go to Venice beach on the west coast to look for teeth. I have no knowledge as to whether or not there are any in the river areas. Meaning ignorance, not to say that it doesn't exist, I just don't know.

I've gone out with Florida West Scubs They were pretty good. We found teeth. He's also very safety concious. He had an under water recall system... so, he could redirect us underwater and call us back if a storm came in.

Found it - Rainbow River near Homasassa. You take a boat upstream then float down, 1-2 hours I hear. Fossils can be found near the numerous springs but aren't plentiful anymore.
I have good referrals for 2 operators - Birds Underwater in Crystal River and American Pro Divers.
Thanks for your help
