Interesting this maybe something i need to look at to add (once i get off shift and get some sleep as today has been brutal mentally and physically) on to the treadmill runs as im really looking to get the weight i gained from 2 surguries and the college weight i put on.

I dont think i have to worry to much about weight work outs as i get them every shift as our average patient weight right now is 450+ lbs and that doesnt include the 125lb stretcher. I do need to add some strength training to keep my back strong as

as for stats not going to post them as it aint pretty, but my goal is the 180lb range, and im 5' 10.5" as there no way i could ever fit the standard BMI scale as im built with a stocky board frame.

man i need some sleep.

Awesome! Glad to see everyone is into this! Just a warning though, if you've never done crossfit, don't get discouraged. Be sure to use the scaled workouts! If you try to jump straight into the WOD it will break you off and you'll be so sore you won't want to go to the gym again. Its very leg and core intensive. Excellent workouts for what seems to be very little actual work. But once you get into it, its addicting and works great.

Todays WOD

Warm Up:

Samson Stretch (30 sec)
3 x 10-15 reps of:

Pull Ups
Push Ups
Sit Ups
Back Extensions
Dips

Do them in a round (10-15 reps of one then move to the other) for three rounds as fast as you can to get the heartrate up and the blood flowin.

WOD:

"Nicole"
Complete as many rounds as possible in 20 minutes!!

Run 400 meters (1/4 miles) as fast as you can. Sprint it out! If you ain't pukin you ain't pushin hard enough!
Maximum repetitions of pull ups.

Post up your number of rounds here and your total number of pull ups!

Once you tire to the point that you can't do any more pull ups, try kippling pullups, then move to jumping pullups. (explainations on the crossfit site) Don't stop too long during pull ups. If you can't get any more in, go back to running. If you can't run outside (too cold) or don't have a treadmill, you can use a stationary bike or rower. Keep the resistance high and push for as fast as you can. Don't cheat yourself!

Good luck!

Get some sleep tooth. These workouts are great because they don't take hours in the gym and can be done almost without one. For those of you that like the weight watchers and diets like that, check out the "zone" diet. Its much the same and seems to be a favorite among many of the folks I've talked to. The information is here Again, glad to see everyone is up for a good SD fitness challenge! I'm already motivated!

How has everyone been doing so far? Has anyone tried the Crossfit workouts yet? What did you think?

Today is a "rest" day. Go for a short run or bike ride, stretch out and relax, maybe even cheat a little and have some ice cream hehe (thats what I'm doin). :teeth:

So is anyone sticking with this? Has anyone made any progress? I had to take a few days off for a pulled muscle (my own fault for not stretching enough and trying to use too much weight) and due to being busy with missions and the like. I'm back at it now. Has anyone given the crossfit thing a try at all? How has everyone's progress been comming with their diets and bike riding/running?

I'm still with ya! I managed to lose a whopping 4 pounds since I joined this thread, but that's my own fault for being a bit inconsistent with the workouts. Same story.....I tend to let other things become the priority.....

But, I have improved my diet and it's easier to stick to that. I do allow myself a treat once a week - popcorn and a slurpee at the movies on Saturday afternoons......

Hey 4 pounds is nothin to scoff at. Especially since I only started this idea like two weeks ago. Good for you. I haven't really weighed myself. I go by times for workouts and weight that I can use, not so much what I weigh. Glad someone is still goin on this. Keep it up!

I've done WW before, and have lost as much as 48 pounds...just couldn't get to the 50 pound mark, and then over 3 years it crept back up. It always bugged me to say I'm a lifetime member when I needed to lose those 50 pounds again.

Last year, my hubby bought me a new body for my birthday present. At least that's what I'm calling it. We both bought 3 year membership to 24 hr fitness, and I've been using a personal trainer on a regular basis. I'm a lot stronger than I ever have been, but the gaining of muscle has taken the weight loss a lot longer than when I just did WW by itself.

My goal is to fit back into my first PINK wetsuit ;-) :cool1:

:cool1: Good job LLDN! You have to allow yourself a treat every once in awhile. For me it is Mexican food on Saturdays. I've been "trying" to stick to Weight Watchers for the last 4 weeks. Even though I am down 6 pounds, last week was bad when we had a vendor treating use to lunches and dinners two days in a row!!! Plus I think the weight loss would have been more if I had been exercising more. The last few days the weather has been nice here in Birmingham, and I did get out and play tennis two days in a row.

OMG, my upper calves are sore! To make this effort more fun, a girlfriend & I both joined 24 Hr Fitness this week. All week long, we've met after work and have been doing an hour of cardio, then an hour of combined stretching, abs, and strength training. Then I'd go sit in the hot sauna as long as I could.....

I found my triceps again, and they hurt. But, my upper calves feel like rocks today, and it takes a minute for them to stretch so I can stand up straight. I thought my calves were in pretty good shape until this happened! :D

I'm done weighing myself every day, and am switching to once a week. I have to admit, I like doing this with someone! I have also improved my diet considerably.

How's everybody else doing?

We've been really busy lately so I've been slacking. My hours have been sporatic and long so my motivation to go to the gym has been lacking. Not a good thing. Glad you're doing good and have a workout buddy. That helps. The once a week weighing thing is definitely a better idea. Enjoy the pain. It helps you know you did something! I'll be back on it. But still have a LOT of work to do. It'll be easier once I get back stateside. Good luck. Keep at it.
