Hi All, I'll be getting wet soon in carribean and field testing my new Zeagle soft BP/W. The bc has a option for a crotch strap. My question " do crotch straps require a quick release"? And is a 2" or 3" web strap more comfortable?
Thanks in Advance, Stan

No, they don't require a QR, though a Fastex buckle is pretty standard on them. And I would say a narrower strap is likely to be more comfortable.

If you're carrying much weight on your back then you do need to use the crotch strap though. If you use a weight belt opinions differ as to whether it goes over or under the crotch strap. I'd put it under.

I'm not too sure what a Zeagle soft BP/W is, but on my SS BP I use 2" continuous webbing for the harness and crotch strap. the narrow crotch strap won't do anything for you, plus the narrow webbing could cause issues.

I've been diving with BP/W (with crotch strap) for years, and never felt the need for a quick release. IMO it provides no real benefit and is an additional failure point. The 2" webbing will be fine. When I wear a weight belt with the BP (which is not often), I wear it over the crotch strap in back and under in front, with the buckle to the left of the strap. This captures it in front while still allowing for a quick release if necessary. I am guessing the Zeagle is weight integrated though, so that may not be an issue for you.

I have never heard of a three inch strap. Most people either use a one or a two incher.

I see no need for a quick release either. I use a 2 inch crotch strap on my BP&W and I don't wear a weight belt.
