I know there are men out there actively looking for that. A former boss was telling us that that one of the things he really liked about his wife when they first met was that she wanted to stay home and take care of home and hearth.
I think there are two different types of marriages in which the wife doesn't work. The middle class version in which she takes care of the kids and cleans the house. Or, the upper class version where the maid and nanny takes care of things, and the wife 'does lunch'.
It sounds like the women that prompted the question are looking for the upper class version. The problem with being an acquistion, from the woman's perspective, is that while life is rosy for a few years, he will trade her in for a newer model eventually. She will then be old, probably ugly, probably bitter, and with absolutely no skills.

Another great quote from Cannery Row Jamie. Although the book was far better, the movie version does grow on you. Some day you and Wendy will have to come out for Doc's birthday bash (in May) and taste a delicious beer milkshake!
