For those who wonder--and those that don't--

Barring anything unforeseen I should be at Lake Travis for this event to salivate over whether I really want to get a tropical 30/30 dry suit and go dry most of the time.

It would be nice to see some SDers while down there that weekend. Please PM me for phone number exchange if interested.

Cool beans! I sorta figured it would be at Windy Point. I've been diving there...just loved that hard thermocline at about 25 feet when diving in August and forgetting to bring the rented wetsuit!! EEEK!!

i was thinking of maybe diving there. my kids live down near Austin and i try to get down there at least once a month to visit them. still waiting to finish my OW class but when i do was thinking of trying the lake there. i believe it is Lake Travis? when and if i do i will let you know when i will be there and maybe meet up to do some diving.

Moorish one -

I was just down in Austin this weekend. Travis is down to approximately 50% of pool, not a good situation for boats and water supply. Water was/is pretty cold - probably best for dry suits or 7mm right now. Lake Travis is lower than I have seen it since I was a little boy in the late 1950's! You can Google Lake Travis + SCUBA and find links to the UT Lab that measures temperature at various depths to give you an idea what you are getting into before you go down.

Although Lake Travis and San Marcos are the best places to dive in central TX, but still marginal compared to Caribbean! Save your coins and reserve a slot in the SD Cozumel trip in late October (and pray for rain for central TX)!

does DUI still do a dry suit repair class at these events? I can't find any reference to it on their website
