Well for those of you who WANTED to join this trip...now you can. Due to other's misfortune we have 2 spots available on this awesome adventure! But don't wait too long...they won't last long either!

Last night I would have jumped on this, but checking just now the cash airfare has just about doubled and the price in frequent flyer miles has also doubled (to more miles than I have)! It is just too much. Consequently, I'm going to pass. I will, however, continue to check fares as they can change from day to day, even hour to hour!

However, the cash and miles price for the 7/19 - 25 trip is unchanged (high, but not out of this world!) and I have an air reservation "hold" that expires Tuesday midnight. Perhaps someone on the 7/19 trip would like to switch to 7/26?

Air fares have come down 10% from the other day, but require 2 changes of planes and arrive Key West in the evening. Maybe something more reasonable will break out. I'll keep checking. I was able to extend the "hold" on air until Friday midnight for the July 19-25 dates in case a spot opens up that week.

The reason why air is looking so high is the two back to back trips especially the first one is that is the same time as Mel Fisher days(7/15-18) activities and this is the 25th ann of finding the motherlode. Alot of investors will be down during this time (before and after) for various things. I might be down there as well, but its going to depend on a few factors, and if i can get everything done i need to.

BTW the average for air to key west from Dallas has averaged ~200 each way(450ish total) since i have been going down to Key West. Depending on what the pricing is and such i have flown directly in and or flown in to FLL, PBI, MIA and driven down.

EXTREMELY IMPORTANT FISHER FAMILY UPDATE:

Much discussion has arisen regarding the affects of the oil spill on the dives and how the Fisher Organization will handle cancellations if the oil reaches Key West. I have rec'd a final decision on this and am happy to announce that if the oil reaches Key West preventing divers from diving that the Fisher Organization will cancel the trip and provide a full refund of the $2500 paid. This is regardless of whether you have trip insurance or not. The only exception would be if we were in the middle of a trip and the oil arrived DURING the trip. At that point a partial refund would be given for the diving and/or any other components of the trip that could no longer be utilized due to the oil spill.

I am sure this is the reply that you all hoped for and kudos to the Fisher Organization for taking this course of action. - Kamala

I would be coming from / returning to IND. $450 I would probably pay, $850 is just too much amortized over less than one week. The idea of paying $450 to fly to MIA or other airport then paying to rent a car, gas, insurance, and driving for hours is even less attractive. I like to dive, but not that much!

One last caveat...how confident are you that the oil spill will not prevent diving on this amazing wreck in the future? And make no mistake...we are already working on 2011 dates but it could be a factor to consider.

Craig get your airfare...and we'll hold your spot during the trip. We can't waive the fee as the entire trip price is a pass thru to the Mel Fisher folks. I know you are good for the spot so its yours. I would send a token $100 which is only $3 bucks just so we can take the number count down.

EXTREMELY IMPORTANT UPDATE:

We now have a waiting list for many of these trips. With the Fisher Treasure's announcement that your investment is safe if the oil spill prevents this trip from running all payments are due in full or you risk cancellation of your spot with minimal if any refund. We must finalize payments for this trip. If you are experiencing any reason we should know about regarding the delay in your payment then please advise us ASAP. Otherwise Sylvia aka cat fish will notify anyone in arrears about this and the previous message on the refunds if impacted by the oil spill. If you are not paid in full in the next few days and we have not heard from you we will have no choice but to cancel your spot for non-payment. Thank you for your immediate attention to this matter.

p.s. This does not apply to Craig as we are working with him already on his trip payment.
