OK, still looking for those "silver linings", since I'm one of the ones who hates to be cold.....

I like winter because that means my non-diving half of the year (Oct-Feb) is halfway over! :lmao:

I usually dive more in the winter. Outdoor climbing season is over, good weather is gone so might as well be under the water!

A happy winter memory... ice skating at recess because they could flood the rink and us kids could skate on the ice that formed. ...And it was actually easier to get places in winter, the creek froze over and everything "on the other side of the creek" was now very accessible!

Seattle winters are AMAZING..
Diving is at its best.. If you get tired of diving (hard to imagine but sometimes it happens) you go ski.

Beautiful snow covered mountians are about 1 hr drive.

If you don't like snow.. head to the beach. Yes its cold but it stunning in the winter.

OH man.. hard to return to Texas after spending a week enjoying the cooler weather.
It's great wearing a jacket, gloves and a scarf.. breathing in the cool air.. feeling the crispness..

The older I get, the more I want to adopt migratory behavior that takes me from the cool temperate waters of SoCal to the tropics where I can enjoy sunshine, warm water and bikinis during the winter. In my youth (say up through my 50s) I tolerated the cooler water well and diving year-round here was no problem. However, I'm older and wiser now!

Snow and ice are for people who don't know any better... I grew up in Chicago and learned early on.

As someone who grew up in the South (Georgia) and now lives in North Carolina, I always remember flying in to Fairbanks, Alaska on Feb 6, 1989 where it was 70 below zero. I had run 23 miles through the beautiful hills of Portland, Oregon in sunny 60 degrees the morning in preparation for a marathon before learning that my employer wanted me to go to Alaska the next day. But now I remember my two lengthy assignments there with great fondness, running in 50 below and watching the awesome aurora borealis and more, plus diving in a drysuit outside of the shrine to Saint Teresa in Juneau. And I could see Russia from Bethel too, even though I decided not to walk or run or whatever across the frozen sea!
