Hey gang...lets ALL take a health, nutrition and fitness challenge in 2010.

I for one need to lose some 'selling your home/moving stress related weight' and I know most people will have a few pounds from the Holidays to knock off not to mention we aren't getting any younger :birthday: so health and nutrition are even more important.

Anyone want to join me? We can use the site for support, set up a private forum like we do for trips so that those choosing to participate can do so with privacy and we can make 2010 the HEALTHIEST YEAR so far!

Put me in there ... I'll share simple exercises that everyone can do. I will also share nutritional idea and things I learn from my journey.

I have no real weight to lose, but living a fit lifestyle is what I do. I have accepted I will never have an Abercrombie Body, but I will be fitter and stronger than ever before.

Good news, I won't miss the weight I've lost (235 down to 185 and heading for 170)

Not so good news - I need a new wetsuit - I have a 3mm full, and a 3mm shorty that I layer

Really not good news, my out-of-water thermal tolerance is way down, so I imagine I'm going to be chilly in the water too

Fairly good news but a PITA, I used to be over-weighted with my SS backplate (5lbs) in fresh water, and almost right in salt. Now I sink like a rock while swimming in the pool.

Surgery has grounded me the last month, and I need a quick fitness recovery plan to get ready for my tank b***h duty in the Philippines in February

So, ideas on returning to fitness, thermal tolerance (I visualize myself now as an emaciated porpoise vs full-blown elephant walrus) and a wetsuit scheme would be appreciated. Weighting I'll deal with myself - just have to get near some water :thankyou:
No aquarium, no tank in a marine land, however spacious it may be, can begin to duplicate the conditions of the sea. And no dolphin who inhabits one of those aquariums or one of those marine lands can be considered normal.

Add me to the list. Since I'm sort of unemployed at the moment it's a great time for me to focus on myself.

I don't really need to lose many more pounds; but to become more healthy & fit (you can never be too fit, right?) and to maintain a healthy weight for the whole year (and beyond) sounds great to me!

Yikes! I haven't even tried on my suit since Fiji!

Oh well, spending money on smaller clothing is always "happy money"! :thankyou:

Put me on the list as I have a good chunk of weight to loose, and getting back into shape would help on many levels (better cholesterol, and other lab values).

WW - Is that plan still in the works?
LLDN - Its not a battle its gonna be outright war.

Anytime the subject is improving fitness, I am ready to be involved. Having started running in 1979 at 5'11" and 210 lbs and within less than a year getting to 6'1" (yoga and hanging upside down) and 164 lbs, I think I know a bit from experience. Currently around 180 as my last health crisis in fall 2006 resulted in two surgeries and increase to 200 lbs. Goal to get back to 164 or so. Running 25 miles a week (hopefully elevating to 40), lifting weights three times a week, swimming a couple of times a week, and yoga. No desserts, two solid meals a day after workouts, one cup of organic French Press coffee in the AM, one glass in the PM of Cotes du Rhone (its grape has maximum Resviratrol), and assorted whole foods derived nutritional products determined with my deep tissue cranial sacral body worker and hair analysis, muscle testing, and computer testing.

That does sound like a lot to swallow. Amazingly, whenever I do a dive trip, I come back weighing less, but I guess even 84 degree water is 14 degrees colder than body temp. And I have to regain a bit of loss fitness from the time away from my regimen. But the diving is more than worth that particular sacrifice.

Whenever one has a crisis or accident, and we all have them sooner or later, the best way to recover fitness is to be at peak fitness when the negative event(s) occur, and then to stay focused on regaining fitness even with accompanying pain as soon as possible.

Hurrah for the earlier posters and their stories of success!! :thankyou:

I would LOVE to gain 2-4 inches of height, but only if I could gain it in the legs (sigh) :thankyou:
