How's everyone else doing? Keith - are you biking inside?

Well, I hate to admit it, but I have failed to keep it up. A stressfull week, then a week with a cold, then weekend out of town. The cold temps of Jan. also kept me from the pool, just hard to motivate myself into getting wet. I am still walking the dog a mile every morning, dog won't let me give that up regardless of temperature.

However, I have substituted my 3 cookies at morning coffee for a cup of oatmeal, with walnuts, blueberries, cinnamon and ginger. Also instead of a candy bar after my lunch sandwich, I have an apple.

I hope to get back at the physical activities this week.

It's hard to get back at it when something interupts your normal routine. Little changes add up over time. You're probably cutting calories and substituting healthy foods.

Good for you Beth! 11 lbs. is awesome. Are you following any particular plan?

I've lost 11 pounds since early January. I'm just over halfway towards my goal of 20 pounds before the Bonaire trip. :cheerleader:

Also...Isn't it time someone created a thread titled 2011 Health/Fitness Challenge?

I'm following Weight Watchers. That's really the only weight loss plan that works for me. I've also bumped up my exercise. Over the last couple of months I've been playing tennis at least 4 times a week...thanks goodness for indoor courts!!! I've also been walking 20 to 60 minutes several times a week.

Has anyone else found that your body gets used to a certain amount or type of exercise? Maybe it's just me, or my personal metabolism, or my age.....

When I'm serious about losing weight, I can walk on a treadmill at 4mph for 50-60 minutes with varying incline every single day, but my body suddenly says "oh, that's just normal" and refuses to budge the scale any more. It's not changing my body composition any more, either.

I guess it's time to start mixing the exercise regime up again. I think maybe you have to keep your body guessing! :D

Isn't that why programs that mix it up work so well (P90X)? Tammy, I wonder if alternating walking at an incline with no incline would be enough of a shake up to get your body going again. I read that interval training burns more in 20 minutes then a steady pace for 40. I'm not a fitness pro tho.

Beth - I bet Hans is loving the walks. The beauty of walking a shepherd is you're pretty safe no matter where you go.

Lynn, the incline varies throughout the hour, from 0 to 8 degrees of incline. But you are right about interval training.....but maybe I need to do intervals of 2-3 minutes of cardio followed by an intense minute of strength training, for an hour. Well, a couple of times a week to start, anyway!
