We are fine here in western Broward county. We didn't lose power at my house but down the street is still without. A lot of traffic lights are still out and one is gone.
Most of the schools here are closed but my daughter's school decided to open. We let her come home after two classes since there were only three kids in her class.
We lost some big limbs in one of our trees but the tree seems to be holding on. Nature did a lot of pruning of our palm trees.
My older daughter at FSU has been without power since Sunday. A transformer blew so it may be a while. Luckily she has a cell phone so I can get in contact with her. They have a bunch of kids staying at her apartment so I'm sure she is having a good time even without electricity.
We are leaving our shutters up too. Although it looks like Ivan might be going more towards the gulf we aren't taking any chances. Besides, these shutters are a pain to put up.
My thoughts and prayers are with everyone affected by the storm.

Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.

Suvived Frances this weekend after securing four family homes between Sheridan Beach, Palm Beach, Melbourne and Sabastian Inlet.
When all was secured, did manage to go to the beach until winds picked up. Watched two of my neighbors that are surfers until the wind blowed too hard for them. It was quite beautiful until picked up speeds of over 75 miles.
Finally got our electric last night. Quite a bit of debris on the roads still and traffic lights not all working but all should be somewhat normal soon. Hopefully, we'll get gas and groceries will stock again soon.
Still waiting to hear from family in West Palm and Melbourne area. With no power, phone, or cell phones working...it's waiting to hear from loved ones that's most on our minds.
Nice to hear Kevin, Jill, Wes, and others are doing well.

Sylvia, Marvel and others- glad you are all safe and sound after the battering. My flight is tonight, and I will be going from LAX to Sarasota via Newark so I may fly over the remnants of Frances tomorrow morning on my way south.
Wish I had a better sense of what Ivan is going to do. I'm packing my dive gear but wondering if we will even get into the water. Sigh... here I can dive through earthquakes and fires with no problem.
