I was in Germany earlier this year. When I flew back I first landed in Chicago. Even though I was in civilian clothes, I got to go through a seperate, much shorter line at customs since I am military. It was great walking past about 500 people stuck in their line. I wonder if I can pull that off coming back from belize into houston.

Is anyone sick yet? If not, read this, it will do the trick...

Please see the following message from American Airlines; this change will affect passengers traveling from Europe to the United States.

********************************************************************************

Customers Traveling to the United States from Europe
Effective immediately, and until further notice, customers traveling on American Airlines from Europe will be limited to *one* carry-on item. The carry-on item must fit in an overhead compartment or under the seat and cannot exceed 45 linear inches (length + width + height). This limit will apply to customers originating on American Airlines and customers originating on other carriers connecting to American Airlines for flights to the US from Europe.

Customers traveling in First Class, Business Class or with PriorityAAccess will be exempt from this restriction as will AAirpass, Aadvantage Executive Platinum. Platinum, or Gold members and oneworld Emerald, Sapphire, or Ruby members. For these customers, the normal carry-on allowance of one bag plus one personal item still applies.

Checked bag charges will not apply for items that customers intended to carry-on and are now restricted and must be checked. For this waiver to apply, the additional item being checked must be within the carry-on bag size limits.

This restriction applies on all American Airlines flights to the United States from Barcelona, Brussels, Dublin, Frankfurt, London, Madrid, Manchester, Milan, Paris, Rome, and Zurich.

It is highly recommended that you refer to AA.com/travelalerts for up-to-date information about airport security, as well as travel policies related to current weather conditions around the globe. Lots going on.

Also, you can refer to the TSA Web site at www.tsa.gov for more specifics.

So, if you are at terrorist, just make sure you fly first class!

REALLY? Doesn't this completely disguss you all? (IT SHOULD) So the airlines are using this last FAILURE OF THE TSA to screw the coach passengers futher!

At least the Y class passengers are not being charged for having to check their second carryon. Not as bad as you are making it out to be.... plus some airline allow military to check in up to 10 checked bags for free!, so actually you have nothing to complain about. The rest of us have to pay up to $600/bag to get that on board! BTW, that would be DL rules.

Has anyone else been paying attention to this? I thought it applied to domestic travel as well, but based upon my families experience yesterday it appears only to apply to international flights, and look to be from now on, with a randomness factor worked in, so be prepared for the worst

3) New restriction of having to be seated for the last hour of flight including nothing in your lap such as pillows and laptop computers.

.

This one I know is true. We were on our way back from Sigapore a few hours from O'hare when the guy tried to blow up the plane in Detroit. We knew something happened when they told us about this new security measure and the raised alert level. Not something one wants to hear when on a plane at 40,000 feet. Everyone knew that something must have happened. Was a bit scary.

This stupid rule is either no longer in effect or per Captain discretion anymore.

I flew home from Mexico on Sunday Jan 3... to Newark (which opens up it's own can of worms for our illustrious TSA security) and there was no such requirements in effect. No stupid sit in your seat, no rule about things in your lap, no bathroom rules. Essentially entirely normal flight from this airport. All carryons were inspected and passengers groped at the gate (which had previously been done randomly) but otherwise nothing different than usual from this particular Mexican airport. Also normal amount of carryon allowed ..... Continental flight.
