It's not the 'holiday' that depresses me; it is the commercialization of it that is disgusting, depressing, annoying, stupid, wasteful.

That's why I started this thread! No commercialization, just sending warm-fuzzies out to all our diving friends.
And Dan, I've discovered that even if you don't have a significant other in your life, you can avoid major depression by surrounding yourself with friends....even if they are of the long-distance persuasion!

LLDN - thats what I do, but this one was from in that group of friends (and co-workers) who popped the question this morning and then proceeded to rub it in everyone's face in this group of friends, for which most aren't attached. It was the manner for which is was done was just not cool and depressing and adds on to the pile of things on my mind.
