Our new forums introduce a new messaging system with the upgrade. Don't Panic. Once you get past the bold new design, and the slick new features, the whole system is simple and more realistically mimics the way we actually converse with one another. Hence the name change from Personal Messenger to Personal Conversations...
Unlike personal messaging or email, the Personal Conversations combines all the messages on a topic into something resembling a forum that the creator and participants have control over. Instead of sending a personal message to 4 people then getting 4 replies that may need 4 separate replies, the Conversation is joined and each participant sees the other participant response without inline.
The menu pane on the left side contains the tools to manage the conversation (see below for details):
The participants block lists all the participants in the conversation. The bell to the left of their name indicates whether they have notifications on or off. You can turn you own notifications on or off with the button at the bottom of the box. The creator of the conversation can block participants from the conversation which prevent the participant from seeing the conversation but it leaves that participants conversation intact for reference.
Archive Conversation will mail you a complete (to date) copy of the conversation.
Add Participants allow you to add additional people to the conversation.
Folders allows you to create subfolders in your message center to sort you conversations
Storage space lets you know how many messages you are storing.
