I got a flight on miles and took it. I am in!!!!

It is 3/3-3/11 since it was the only way I could get a decent flight that wasn't routed thru Newark. You know that Denver - Newark - Bonaire shortcut!!

Damn, I have to stay an extra day!!!

FYI there seems to be some availability for award seats on Star Alliance for those of you United/Continental type people.

For those early birds like Fred...be advised the trip datea are firm. The price will not be more than $100 over last year IF THAT MUCH...we are hoping to keep the same pricing if at all possible...and this trip will be opened up as soon as I can get it done....

BUT YOU CAN BOOK AIR IF YOU FIND DEALS!!!

Its still nearly $1100 for me so need to move quickly but if you are trying for miles...now is the time.

Pascal, you can add on any number of days before, after, or a combination of both if you like! However, we cannot guarantee double occupancy or an SD.com dive buddy for any dates outside the actual trip week. If others also sign up for some or all of the extra days you're staying, we will work it out with you to pair you up.

Of course, if you're wanting single occupancy, there's no problem!

I usually stay 1 extra day & fly home on Sunday, to get an extra day of diving in and help maximize the airfare....

Interesting. Would you share your maximization technique for Bonaire ? Do you fly in on Saturday and fly out on Sunday ?



How do you intend to manage the technical diving courses schedule vs the recreational -3-dives/day trip ? You can’t do both on the same day; and both are fun to do.



I would be interested in a (tech) refresher and a few days of decompression dives in the 130-160 feet range.

For planning purposes, when can we expect this trip to be open for registration ?

Pascal...SD has in the past offered tech classes on this trip and been able to incorporate all or basically all of your trip pkg boat dives along with shorediving to complete the required coursework. Of course this is contingent on what tech classes you are taking. Another option is to opt for the shorediving only pkg and pay for boat dives as you go. This is however more per boat dive since you do not get any prepaid economy of scale. And you won't get the cheap afternoon boat dives since those are only for the pkgs. So all in all its usually cheaper to do the pkg and take the class on top.

If SD does not get the min. number of tech students to bring our own instructor...then you can also take tech classes from Divi. They are a tech shop. Again they will work around your pkg dives whenever possible.

Are you only interested in a tech refresher? Would you be interested in sidemount? The newest trend to avoid the COSTLY rental of doubles and paying for fills for those doubles is to use 2 independent singles and mount them on each side of you vs. back mounting. You can do the sidemmount and then do the refresher in a configuration that is VERY Caribbean Dive Resort friendly...heck its ANY DIVER RESORT friendly.

I'm in DC right now helping to take care of my Aunt. She had emergency malignant brain surgery last week and they have released her to her home but she needs around the clock care. My mother is also here to help. If all goes well I hope to have this trip posted in the next few weeks. Again that is only a guess. A lot depends on how well my Aunt does and how well my brain and nerves hold up.

I take the red-eye out of Houston and arrive at dawn on Saturday morning, in plenty of time to do the 9am mandatory Orientation and I shore dive the rest of the day. I fly home on Sunday sometime, but it's usually an early flight.

The timing of tech dives will be determined by the instructor. WreckWench may want to put you in touch with the instructor for some of these questions. I know last time he did tech instruction, the students were with him on a separate boat from our main group, who were doing all recreational dives. If you are tech certified, you could possibly do the 3 rec boat dives with us, then do tech diving from shore in the afternoon, evening or night -- if you have a tech buddy, or solo cert, of course!

Now that is anybody's guess! However, the dates are already set in stone, so plan away!

You can run this pkg from Sat to Sat or Sun to Sun depending on how the flights run where you are at.
