I would love to see the dive plan. And how much hang time he had at 1024 ft. That's rediculous.

Stan,2 questions...
I noticed at the end of the video a man was holding up a bag of???.I assume to prevent or reduce DCS.Also ,the tanks he used I would think must have been special with the pressure being by far greater than Rec depths...yes?? I didn't notice where it took place.
None the less ,I take my hat off to the diver with guts like that..

Bill aka OTWDiver routinely dives to 400 feet which is quite challenging in and of itself. I have asked him to reply to this thread but it may take a few days or so as this is his MEGA BUSY season so is diving himself silly right now teaching and enjoying his profession. Since he will be teaching tech classes on the Halloween Roatan trip this thread is timely. Of course he will not be teaching this level... but he does an excellent job of teaching the first thru the last technical courses offered by TDI as well as PADI. kamala

The bag is probably saline solution to improve the amount of blood volume. (That is a guess.) Why he needed assistance off the boat and saline is a mystery unless they were giving him a preventative chamber ride.

Well I will not say 400 regularly, as I have done 330 only once and 300 only two dozen or more times.

The bag was most likely saline to rehydrate him after spending at least six hours in deco, my guess. Breathing dry air will take it out of you and dehydration is the leading cause of DCS. My hats off to him. I hope he had a reason to go that deep rather than to just say he did it. For me it has to be something worth seeing to go to depth. It is hard work, hard planning and hard diving to do anything deeper than 150 feet. If done right with support and good gas planning diving deep is safe, when done right.I will decline anything deeper than 400 even if it is a really cool dive site. I enjoy my destination Attakulla Lodge or the Camp Jocassee for Girls. We still have a panty raid to do! We just need to find the cabins! So the search goes on.

Shooting film for as documentary next month will take us there again and two classes will bring us two more times to this special place. It took a mystery to make me become a Tri-mix Diver and solving it has been a blast. Teaching the skills has been the best way to stay on top of mine. It is not something to do part time. It takes a commitment and the time to stay up to the demands of Tech diving. The classes are just the beginning. Time in the water after the classis the key for any level of diver. There is no substitution to just blowing bubbles to make you a better diver at any depth
