Hi fellow divers,
I am looking into staying at maybe Sand Dollar or Den Lamen on Bonaire. Does anyone have any preference & why? I realize they are right next door to each other, but want to pick the better of the two. The diving isn't an issues as they use the same place, so I am more interested in opinions on the rooms & overall appeal.
Thanks, ~K

I would go with Den Lamen. Newer, nicer. In my opinion Sand Dollar is well past it's prime and shows it. However, for what it is worth, take a look at BelMar apts on the other side of town. Nice place with a pool. Dive op on site. Round the clock security.

Stayed at Sand Dollar in Oct. 2007, no objections. Den Laman has only 12 units [I think], whereas Sand Dollar has 100+. We were assigned to condos on the far side of the complex which made it quite a walk after a night dive from the pier.
Also, be advised, Bonaire Dive & Adventures hours were 8am - 4pm. At 4pm all EAN is locked up!!! Only a limited amount of air is available on the pier until 9 or 10pm [?] when it's locked, along with the gear storage room. So, if you want to do a late night dive, or get started prior to 8am, utilize the 'lockers' on the pier [take your own lock, and lay claim to a locker before the required briefing, otherwise they maybe gone] or take your gear and air/EAN to your room.

Hmm, I like the sound of a newer & more intimite place & it is good to know about the locker & closing time. Thank you. :)
