Calling all School Teachers...

When are your holiday/vacation breaks? When do you get out from school TYPICALLY and when do you have to do inservices and start back? When is xmas break, thanksgiving break and spring break?

I know it varies around the country so we'd love to have your feedback so we can better plan our trips so YOU can join us! kamala

Dennis wrote: "I am out by May 15 and go back August 25th. My Xmas break runs from about December 15th to January 18th. Spring Break is March 14-19th."

Usually I can say what my calendar will be by now...but there is no calendar for next year available. I had to be available initially by Aug 9th but that changed to Aug 11 with furlough days. This year I have the whole Thanksgiving week off, usually it's only part of the week, 2 weeks at Christmas returning the first Monday of the year unless Jan 1st is a Monday, sometime in March or April is spring break for a week, this school year is last week of March, school is out for me after the first week of June (have to work first week) and return is usually within the first 7 days of August.

Rats! So if we are targeting teachers for our single's week the 2nd week of Aug is too late?

We may have to try for an earlier date in 2013 if it goes well. The resort does not have enough space to do it Aug 4-11 and we'll still be in Key West the end of July.

For me the second week is too late, for others it may be just fine. I have to be at work 3 days before teachers and three days after teachers... which equates to more like a week before and after with weekends added in and how things fall in real life. Summer "vacations" aren't completely "off", you're always doing something for the job (some can attest to my reading material this summer).
